Shwe Muyin Fish Breeding Zone in Twantay Township must take measures to fullfil the meat and fish needs in Yangon Region. The prawn farming zone must take measures not only to breed prawn but also to raise meat and egg ducks and eels successfully. In the first place, the zone is required to sell prawn cheaply and abundantly in the region and to meet standards so that prawn can be exported. As nature of fish and prawn is different, it is necessary to coordinate with experts to systematically carry out dredging of farms. Shrimps must be quality pedigree species and it is necessary to draw a plan to operate hatching. The Senior General urged them to grow mangrove plants in a row suitable for the region in order to maintain the river banks. An agricultural zone must be established in the extra land plot of the prawn farming zone in order to successfully produce vegetables for selling meat, fish and vegetables at cheap prices to more than 50,000 employees from Thilawa Industrial Zone and those from the region. The Senior General and party inspected dredging of prawn farms by the local military engineering unit with the use of vehicles and heavy machinery and gave instructions on dredging the prawn farms, meeting set standard, systematic maintenance of the farms not to cause damage in monsoon, timely completion of tasks before monsoon and clean and tidy work process. On arrival at the ship breaking yard (Thilawa) of Myanmar Economic Corporation on the bank of Yangon River in Kyauktan Township, the Senior General and party heard reports on progress of tasks and future plans by yard manager U Nyi Nyi Naing. It is estimated Myanmar’s demand of steel reaches 2.5 million tons of steel per year, and it will reach five million tons of steels in coming five years. As such, it is necessary to seek various ways and means for operating the yard at full capacity and for receiving increased volume of raw materials. Efforts should be made for operating steel plants step by step so as to manufacture quality steel and related equipment at home. The Senior General noted that it is necessary to focus on welfare of workers.
The Senior General and party viewed round the ship breaking yard and left necessary instructions.
