The eighth Maha communal Kathina robes offering ceremony of families of the offices and departments from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) took place at Atulamanaung Monastery in Thayawhan Village in Zeyathiri Township,here, this morning, attended by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who donated Kathina robes and offertories.
First, the Senior General and guests viewed round Kathina robes, alms and tree-shaped donations called Padethabin to be donated to monasteries. The Senior General offered flowers, water and oil lights to the Buddha image at Thalun Lawka Yanaung Pagoda. Afterwards, the Senior General donated alms in emerald alms-bowl, fruits, flowers and water to the Buddha image in the monastery.

It was attended by 54 members of the Sangha led by Presiding Nayaka of Mingala Zayyon Pali Tekkatho Monastery of Pyinmana in Nay Pyi Taw Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi,Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe and wife, Union Minister for Defence Lt-Gen Sein Win, Chief of the General Staff(Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo,Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, Commander-in-Chief(Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, officers,other ranks and families, townselders and local people.
At the ceremony, the congregation led by the Senior General took the Nine Precepts from Presiding Nayaka of Yezin KanU Pariyatti Monastery Sasanadhaja Dhammacariya Maha Ganthavaca Pandita Bhaddanta Vilasa and listened to the recitation of Parittas by members of the Sangha.
Then, the Senior General offered Kathina robes and offertories to Abbot of Atulamanaung Monastery from Thayawhan Village Bhaddanta Obhasa and the Presiding Nayaka of Mingala Zayyon Pali Tekkatho Monastery of Pyinmana.
The Union Minister for Home Affairs,the Union Minister for Defence, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air),Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and the Commander-in-Chief (Air) donated Kathina robes and alms to members of the Sangha.
Later, the senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and elders of Thayawhan Village presented Kathina robes and offerings to members of the Sangha.
After that, Abbot Bhaddanta Indacakka from Sipinthaya Monastery and Abbot Bhaddanta Sobhana of Weikza Theikpan Monastery from Zeyathiri Township joined the question and answer session on Kathina affairs. The Presiding Nayaka of Mingala Zayyon Pali Tekkatho Monastery of Pyinmana delivered a sermon on Kathina Anumodana Desana to the Senior General and congregation who shared merits gained in all donations.
After the ceremony, the Senior General performed the rituals of golden and silver showers in commemoration of the successful completion of Maha communal Kathina robes offering ceremony. The Senior General and guests offered meals to members of the Sangha.
Afterwards, elders from Thayawhan Village,local people and guests were served with lunch at the pavilion of donation ceremony.
Today’s Maha communal Kathina robes offering ceremony aimed to make donations for 54 monasteries from Zeyathiri Township which have not accepted Kathina robes yet.As such, a total of 54 tree-shaped donations called Padethabin worth more than Ks-44.7 million were donated at the ceremony. On the morning of 14 November, the treeshaped donations called Padethabin were conveyed on a grand scale from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) to Atulamanaung Monastery in Thayawhan Village.
