Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Ambassador of Laos to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Lyying Sayaxang, who had completed his duties in Myanmar, at the Parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this afternoon.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The ambassador was accompanied by Military Attaché Col. Boungmyvieng Vienghoutthasat and officials.
At the meeting, the Senior General expressed pleasure for the further cementing of friendly relations between the armed forces of the two countries during the ambassador’s tour of duty in Myanmar, adding that as a significant event, the delegation led by the vice-chairman Sayadaw of state Buddhist bureau of Laos visited Myanmar for the first time at his invitation for the further promotion and propagation of Theravada Buddhism and friendly ties between the two countries. The Senior General said the military leaders of the two countries have also exchanged goodwill visits, thanking Laos for its correct stand for Myanmar amidst the international community in solving the hardships of Myanmar.
Then cordial discussions were centred on efforts being made for enhancing friendship and cooperation between the two armed forces and future programs, cooperation in ensuring peace and stability in the border, cultural exchange programs between the two armed forces, and exchange of sports contingents, level-wise goodwill visits.The Senior General then gave a gift to the Lao Ambassador.
