Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan H.E.Ms. Toshiko ABE at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this morning.
Also present together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Japanese state minister was accompanied by Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Ichiro MARUYAMA and officials.
Cordial discussion focused on Myanmar’s efforts for achieving internal peace, the government and Tatmadaw’s efforts to address the Bengali issue and ongoing problems in northern Rakhine State, the Tatmadaw’s stance and activities as mentioned in the statement issued on 21 December 2018, Myanmar’s opening of door to peace, Japanese support for the statement and activities, Japanese assistance in Myanmar’s efforts for internal peace and regional development and the need to ensure local ethnics enjoy equality in rendering aid to Rakhine State.
Then, the Senior General and the Japanese state minster exchanged gifts and posed for a group photo.
