Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with the chairmen and secretaries of Tatmadaw Sports and Physical Education Administrative Committee and Tatmadaw sports committees at B Hall of Zeyathiri Tatmadaw Stadium this afternoon.
Present at the meeting were Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, command commanders, the chairmen and secretaries of Tatmadaw Sports and Physical Education Administrative Committee and Tatmadaw sports committees.
First, Chairman of the Tatmadaw Sports and Physical Educa-tion Administrative Committee Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Hsan Oo explained the holding of Tatma-daw (Army, Navy and Air) sport meets.
In his address, the Senior General said the Tatmadaw is an organization with good discipline. Tatmadaw athletes need to win more victories. Sport is supportive to the national defence, and fosters the spirit to love the country and the unyielding spirit of overcoming all kinds of hardships in serving the duties. In sports, people support the team that represents their country. This practice will lead to gradually cementing the spirit to support the battles for the country and justice. Apart from individual ability, the Tatmadaw members must have team-wise ability in discharging duties. Thus, team-wise events such as football and volleyball are included in the sports meets. Moreover, sports events that are suitable for Tatmadaw members are also being held. The Tatmadaw sports meets have enhance the dignity of the country by producing national selections who bring honour to the country. Tatmadawmen need fitness, so they must do regular physical exercise. Sport competitions can produce prowess of the Tatmadaw by building its strength. Tatmadaw members must be fed with nutritious food to become strong and healthy. Arrangements should be made for Tatmadaw members and families to consume nutritious food such as beef, pork, fish, milk and eggs. Moreover, Tatmadaw members must be provided with sports aid, material assistance and systematic training.
Skilled trainers are required in the technical and fitness sectors. The Tatmadaw is providing standard sports indoor and outdoor sports stadiums. Apart from verbal support, physical and spiritual support is also required. The Tatmadaw is presenting due awards to athletes who become medal-winners for the country from the Tatmadaw sports meets. Measures are being taken for guaranteeing the future of sports persons. The Tatmadaw sports committees should strive to develop their respective sports events.
