Aimed at promoting sport skills of the Tatmadaw members and turning out Tatmadaw member athletes who bring honour to the State, the sports competitions for Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) are held every year. The final match and awarding ceremony of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services’ Trophy Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) Football Tournament was held at Zeyathiri Tatmadaw Sports Ground in Nay Pyi Taw this afternoon. Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the awarding ceremony and presented prizes to winning teams.
Also present on the occasion together with the Senior General were his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife,Union Minister Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe and wife,Union Minister Lt-Gen Sein Win and Union Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung and wife, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife, senior military officers and wives from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, senior officer trainees of National Defence College, officers, other ranks and their families of offices and departments of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air), officers, other ranks and their families of stations under Nay Pyi Taw Command and invited guests.
Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing together with those present on the occasion enjoyed and cheered the final football match of A level football tournament of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) between the Central Command and Office of Camp Commandant of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).
Both teams launched see-saw attacks throughout the match. The team of Office of Camp Commandant of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) led the first half game with 1-0. Eventually the team of Office of Camp Commandant of Commander-in-Chief (Army) added two more goals near the stoppage time of the second half game and won the Central Commander with 3-0.
Afterwards, the prize presentation ceremony was held and Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) military band took position on the pitch and then the flag bearers led by the parade commander and the players from 17 sports teams did the same manner.
Next, Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Hsan Oo, Chairman of Tatmadaw Sports and Physical Education Administrative Committee, presented the fairplay awards to respective teams at the A and B levels of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) Football Tournament and Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, those to third-placed teams at the A and B levels. Admiral Tin Aung San presented prizes to the second-placed teams at the B level and A level contests, General Mya Tun Oo, best player awards to footballers from respective places at the A and B level contests, Lt-Gen Ye Aung, players from the team representing Coastal Region Command which won the first prize at the B level contest and Lt-Gen Sein Win, players of the team from the Office of Camp Commandant of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) which secured the first prize at the A level contest.
Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe gave championship trophy, duplicate trophy and cash award to the (D) team representing Coastal Region Command which stood first at the B level contest and Vice-Senior General Soe Win, championship trophy, duplicate trophy and cash award to the team from Office of the Camp Commandant of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) which won the first prize at the A level contest.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing presented championship shield of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and cash award to the team representing the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) who bagged 119 gold, 72 silver and 61 bronze medals, totalling 252 in the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) Sports Meets in 2018-2019.
After the ceremony, athletes from 17 sports teams led by the parade commander left the sports ground. The Senior General and those present cordially greeted them. Then, the ceremony successfully came to an end with firing multi-coloured fireworks.
The Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) Sports Meets in 2018-2019 consisted of 14 sports events namely football, boxing, Sepak Takraw, track & field (men’s and women’s), sports for those with disabilities, Chinlone, volleyball (men’s and women’s), judo (men’s and women’s), swimming, weightlifting and body-building, Wushu, Karatedo, Myanmar martial arts and Tae-kwondo events.
