Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army General Apirat Kongsompong at the villa of Zeyathiri Beikman here this afternoon.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff(Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. General Apirat Kongsompong was accompanied by commanders of the military areas of Royal Thai Armed Forces, senior military officers and Thai Military Attaché (Army) Senior Colonel Apichart Choopavang.
At the call, the Senior General said as Myanmar and Thailand are not only the ASEAN member states,but also neighbouring countries,bilateral friendships must be further cemented. Bilateral discussions were then centred on the strong bonds of relations between the two countries and the two armed forces, future programs to further strengthen friendly ties through unity and the spirit of brothers, the peace process in Myanmar and the statement issued on 21 December 2018 by the Tatmadaw to pave the way for peace negotiations, bilateral cooperation in anti-drug drive,cultural exchanges and cooperation in sports and medicine.
