A cultural troupe of Royal Thai Armed Forces staged performances in the Thabin Hall of Zeyathiri Villa here this afternoon as the second cultural exchange program held with the aim of further cementing friendly ties between the armed forces of Myanmar and Thailand and conducting cultural exchange programs between the two countries,attended by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Also present on the occasion together with the Senior General were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief(Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air)General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief,leader of the cultural delegation of Royal Thai Armed Forces Deputy Director of Department of Border Affairs of Royal Thai Armed Forces Major General Pairoj Wilailuk and senior military officers of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, Thai Military Attaché (Army) to Myanmar Senior Colonel Apichart Choopavang and officers, other ranks and families of office/department of Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army,Navy and Air).
First, Major General Pairoj Wilailuk extended greetings. Then,the troupe started its performances.The Thai cultural troupe sang the “Doh Tatmadaw” (Our Tatmadaw), a marching song of the Tatmadaw, and the Myanmar Tatmadaw orchestra played the marching song of the Royal Thai Armed Forces “Royal Thai Army March”.
The Thai troupe played and sang the song “Light Cavalry”, Myanmar Tatmadaw cultural troupe the song “Royal Thai March”, and the Thai troupe “My Heart Will Go On” the theme song of the movie “Titanic”. The cultural troupe of the Royal Thai Armed Forces played a plot of the famous Ramayana Play in which Hanuman chased after “Banyetkai” and performed “Lan Wai Fon”, a classical dance from the southern Thailand and “Kangkaw Kin Kluay”, a famous traditional song of Thailand, to the accompaniment of traditional and modern musical instruments.
The Myanmar Tatmadaw cultural troupe played “A Song Kai”, a classical song of Thailand, and the Thai cultural troupe “Oor Jao” song.The Thai cultural troupe performed “Ram Si Phak” dance representing the geographical conditions of the four Thai regions and the Myanmar Tatmadaw cultural troupe “Ethnic Yein” dance representing the Republic of the Union of Myanmar where various ethnic groups reside.
Then, the two cultural troupes played songs namely “Gonyu-Alwan,”“Kaungmalay,” “Loikahton,” “Naing-Ngandawei Parami-Phyaebatmyar”,“Sabai Sabai,” “Latti” and “Our Tatmadaw”.
After the performance, the Senior General and wife presented bouquets and cash awards to the cultural troupe of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and posed for a documentary photo.
Under the first cultural exchange programme between the Myanmar and Thai armed forces, a Tatmadaw cultural troupe visited Thailand in May 2018. During the visit, the cultural troupe gave performances with Myanmar traditional songs,dances and instruments at the headquarters of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, Phitsanulok Province and No (3) military command area.They also played Thai songs.
