Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the newly appoint-ed Ambassador of Australia to Myanmar H.E. Ms. Andrea Faulkner at the Parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this afternoon.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Soe Htut, Lt-Gen Maung Maung Aye and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Australian Ambassador was accompanied by Military Attaché Colonel Paul Bruce and officials.
At the call, cordial discussions were centred on the good diplomatic relations between the two countries beginning from the time Myanmar restored independence, cooperation in conducting courses including languages courses, UN peacekeeping courses, counternarcotics courses and medical courses, Australia’s assistance in the peace process of Myanmar and development undertakings involving education and economic sectors, the Tatmadaw’s endeavours for eternal peace in Myanmar, the government and the Tatmadaw efforts in solving the Bengali problem in Buthidaung and Maungtaw in northern Rakhine State in accord with the law and the assistance provided by Australia.
The Senior General presented a commemorative gift to the Australian Ambassador and posed for the documentary photo together with the attendees.
