The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, who are on a goodwill visit to Thailand at the invitation of Chief of Defence Forces of Royal Thai Armed Forces General Ponpipaat Benyasri,paid a visit to Wat Bodhisomphon Temple in Udon Thani Province this morning.
After paying homage to the Buddha image and sacred relics in the precinct of the temple, the Senior General, his wife and party paid obeisance to abbot monk Sutti Sala May Tee and donated offerings and cash for nine prerequisites. Then, they shared merits gained and the abbot explained the history of temple. The Senior General and party paid homage to the Emerald Pagoda replica pagoda on the second floor of the temple and viewed the painting depicting stay and meditation of Tawya monks in Thailand.
Afterwards, they paid obeisance to 600-year Buddha Image made of gold, bronze and metal donated by Laos and 120-year Buddha’s footprint and poured water at 90-year Bodi banyan tree in the precinct of the temple.
Wat Bodhisomphon Temple is a renowned religious edifice in Udon Thani Province and was built by Rama V, the fifth king of Thailand more than 600 years ago. There are about 20 buildings in the temple and preservation tasks have been carried out there for ensuring the tourists to view and make observations. At present, Vice Chair of Sangha Organization in Udon Thani Province Maha Ammat Tri Phraya Sisuriyarat Chawaranuwat is residing in the temple and carrying out the maintenance works on its buildings.
Then, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party left Wing 23 Airbase of the Royal Thai Air Force for Bangkok where they were seen off by Commander of airbase Group Captain Chanawee Klinmalee and officials.At the airbase, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing took the salute of Guard of Honour of the Royal Thai Air Force.
Afterwards, the Senior General and party arrived at Don Muong Airport (Wing-6 Airbase) of the Royal Thai Air Force in Bangkok where they were welcomed by Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Myo Myint Than, Major-General Nopadon Mungkalaton of the Royal Thai Air Force and officials.
Next, the Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla were hosted a working dinner by Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces General Ponpipaat Benyasri and wife Sala Tim Naam at the Thai traditional restaurant.
After the dinner, the Senior General and his wife, and the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and wife exchanged gifts. The Senior General and his wife presented cash awards to the entertainment troupes and posed for documentary photo together with them.
