Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets Head of International Liaison Department of Central Committee of CPC

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing currently in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China, on a goodwill visit, met H.E. Mr.Song Tao, Head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Minister of International Department of the CPC,at the parlour of the department this afternoon.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Than Tun Oo and senior ministry officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army),Myanmar Ambassador to China U Thit Lin Ohn and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army,Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Tint Hsan. Mr. Song Tao was accompanied by Deputy Minister Mr. Guoye Zhou.

Mr. Song Tao extended greetings saying that the Senior General’s goodwill visit to China would facilitate the amity between the two countries and the two armed forces. The Senior General said his visit was aimed at further strengthening the friendship between the two countries and the two armed forces. Exchange of goodwill visits between the two governments, the two armed forces and the parties and organizations could also promote the bilateral relations,he added.

Then, both sides cordially exchanged views on Myanmar’s development and mutual interest through cooperation between the two countries and the two armed forces, Tatmadaw’s participation and assistance in Myanmar’s efforts to achieve internal peace and promote democracy,China’s assistance in Myanmar’s development and efforts to achieve internal peace, Tatmadaw’s unilateral ceasefire effective from 21 December 2018 for the first time as a gesture of showing goodwill towards achieving eternal peace by ending more than 70 years of internal armed conflict,ensuring development only if there is political stability and peace as Myanmar pursue democracy aspired by the people and exchange of rank-wise goodwill visits between the two armed forces.

Mr. Song Tao then hosted luncheon in honour of the Senior General and party. After the lunch, they exchanged gifts.
