It is important that neighbours have mutual understanding. We believe it is best to resolve difficulties through coordination. And as always, our Tatmadaw will continue the amity and cooperation, said Commander-in- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the meeting with General Surapong Suwana-adth , Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces at the parlour of Zeyathiri villa here this evening.
First, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accorded a Guard of Honour welcome to General Surapong Suwana-adth. Next, they took the salute of the Guard of Honour and inspected it. The Senior General and the Thai Chief of Defence Forces introduced each other to the military officers in attendance.
Also present on the occasion together with the Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers from the Office of Commander-in-Chief. The Thai Chief of Defence Forces was accompanied by Chief of Joint Staff of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Gen. Tarnchaiyan Srisuwan , military attachés of the Royal Thai Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air) and senior military officers.
Next, Gen. Surapong Suwana-adth signed the visitors’ book and met the Senior General at the parlour.
The Thai Chief of Defence Forces said he was here to extend his greetings as he did not forget bilateral cooperation while serving his duties. The trip to Myanmar has now been made based on the past and existing cooperation between the Thai and Myanmar armed forces and ongoing better cooperation. It aimed to introduce the new leaders from the Royal Thai Army. He believed that both sides could further promote friendship as mutual friendship already existed.
Afterwards, the Senior General said amity and friendship between the armed forces of both countries was satisfactory. Both sides had a tradition that the seniors share their experience with the juniors. Cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries would exist forever. Myanmar would not accept the acts that may hamper the interest of Thailand. Illegal drug problem was the biggest challenge between the two countries. Both sides would make cooperation in solving it on a priority basis. Both countries would make continued cooperation in the remaining affairs smoothly. Then, the Senior General explained the real situations in Rakhine State in western Myanmar.
After the call, the Senior General and the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Army exchanged gifts.
In the evening, the Senior General and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla hosted a dinner honouring the delegation led by the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Army and wife.
First, Tatmadaw military band played the national anthems of both countries. Afterwards, the Senior General extended a greeting and the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Army spoke words of thanks. Later, the Senior General and wife and, the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Army and wife enjoyed the dinner, together with those present.
While having the dinner, troupes under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Welfare Office entertained guests with music and dances of both countries. After the dinner, two leaders exchanged gifts. Afterwards, troupe members were provided with gift baskets, and they posed for documentary photos.
Likewise, the delegation led by the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Army General Surapong Suwana-adth laid the wreath in front of the stone inscription at the Memorial to the Fallen Heroes in Nay Pyi Taw this evening and saluted the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
