Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Thet Pon, visited Tyre Factory (Ywama) of Myanmar Economic Corporation in Insein Township, Yangon Region, this morning.
First the factory manager presented a report on the operations, production of tyres for local distribution and efforts being made to export tyres.
In response, the Senior General said the factory is producing tyres as import-substitute goods. They must be cheaper than the goods of the same quality or must be better in quality than the goods of the same price. So arrangements must be made to use quality raw materials and related materials. The factory must do a market research of the sizes which are widely used in domestic market, in order to fulfill the domestic demand. He also called for increasing tyre exports, maintaining and improving the quality of tyres for sustainability of the business. There are around 900,000 vehicles in the country and the annual demand for tyres in domestic market is around 2.6 million, the factory must increase its productivity to meet the domestic demand.
He also called for producing quality tyres for motorbikes. He coordinated to fulfill the requirements regarding the welfare and accommodation of factory employees.
The Senior General and party were conducted round the factory by the factory manager and officials as they looked around Tri Star tyres and other export items manufactured by Tyre Factory (Ywama). The Senior General and party then viewed the production process of Tri Star tyres in the factory. The Senior General presented cash awards for factory employees.
