Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pays homage to Shwetanttic Tharakan Pagoda, Shweku Buddha Image in Pakokku, Htilominlo Pagoda in Bagan Cultural Zone

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Kyaw Swar Lin, Commander of North-West Command Maj-Gen Soe Tint Naing and officials, paid homage to the ancient Shwetanttic Tharakan Pagoda in Phayagyi Monastery in Shwetanttic Village, Pakokku Township, this afternoon.Afterwards, the Senior General paid obeisance to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Eindravansa, donating offertories. The Senior General and his wife donated cash to the pagoda board of trustees and signed the visitors’ book. Then, the Senior General and party paid homage to the ancient Buddha images kept in the Gandakudi Kyaungdaw and observed the decorated throne of Shwetanttic Tharakan Buddha Image and other ancient objects.

Next, the Senior General and his wife and party paid homage to the Shweku Buddha Image in Pakokku Township and offered flowers, water and oil lights to the Buddha Image. After that, the Senior General observed Shweku wooden throne with ancient architectural designs, leaving suggestions to the responsible officials to protect the ancient throne from the effect of weather, make thorough cleaning of the throne without damaging it and make all-round renovation of the Buddha Image by keeping with the times.


Then, the Senior General and his wife presented cash to the pagoda board of trustees and signed the visitors’ book.Also, the Senior General and his wife and party paid homage to Htilominlo Pagoda in Bagan Cultural Zone on 17 June evening.

The Senior General and his wife donated flowers, water and oil lights to the Buddha Image in the Hilominlo Pagoda. After that, the Senior General looked round the renovation of the pagoda, leaving necessary instructions.
Later, the Senior General and his wife and party paid homage to the pagoda by walking clockwise. After donating cash to the pagoda board of trustees, the Senior General signed the visitors’ book.
