The ceremony to offer Waso robes by the families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) for 2019 was held at Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) this morning. Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla presented Waso robes and offertories at the ceremony.
Present on the occasion were 63 Sayadaws including member Sayadaws of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee,Tipitakadhara Tipitaka Kovida Sayadaws,Ovadacariya Sayadaws of Uppatasanti Pagoda and other invited Sayadaws led by Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Patron of Bhamo Monastery in Mandalay Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhammajotika Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa. Present together with the Senior General and wife were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, and officers, other ranks and families of offices and departments of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air).
First, the Senior General and wife presented Waso robes and offertories to Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa at common room for members of the Sangha.
According to the agenda, the ceremony was opened by reciting Namotasa three times. The congregation received the Nine Precepts from Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa.
Sayadaws then recited parittas. The Vice-Senior General and wife then presented Waso robes and offertories to Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa.
Afterwards, the Chief of the General Staff(Army, Navy and Air) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife and senior military officers presented Waso robes and offertories to Sayadaws.
Sayadaw of Thanlyin Minkayung Monastery delivered a sermon, and the congregation shared the merits gained.
After the ceremony, Sayadaws led by Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa were served with day meal.
