Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing,who is on a goodwill visit to the Republic of India, called on Prime Minister of India and Chairman of National Security Council H.E. Mr.Narendra Damodardas Modi at the residence of Prime Minister this afternoon.
At the meeting, the Indian Prime Minister thanked Myanmar for its cooperation to ensure peace and stability of border region. He pledged to further enhance cooperation between both countries and the two armed forces. They discussed further promotion of assistance for uplift of capability of Myanmar Tatmadaw,situation for cooperation between the two countries, and issues on peace and stability of Rakhine State.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Myanmar Ambassador to the Republic of India U Moe Kyaw Aung,Chief of Staff (Navy) Vice- Admiral Moe Aung, Chief of Staff (Air) Lt-Gen Tun Aung and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Thein Zaw.The Indian Prime Minister was accompanied by officials.
The Senior General met with National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Republic of India H.E. Mr.Ajit Kumar Doval, Deputy Minister of Defence Mr. Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat of the Indian Armed Forces, and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh of the Indian Armed Forces separately and discussed situations for further cementing relations between the two countries and two armed forces, cooperation in ensuring peace and stability in border region of two countries,progress of cooperation in socio-economic development of ethnic peoples at the border region of two countries,cooperation of the Republic of India with Myanmar as a good neighbour friend under the Act East Policy, and needs of the relevant countries to cooperate in security of Indian Ocean.
After the meetings, the Senior General exchanged emblems with them.
