With the aim of conserving natural environment, facilitating climatic conditions, providing shade and helping develop national economy, families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and respective military commands have been holding collective monsoon tree-planting ceremonies annually since 2011. The third monsoon treeplanting ceremony of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army,Navy and Air) took place near Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area today, and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the event and planted a tree.
The ceremony was also attended by the Senior General’s wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army)Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, the Union Minister for Home Affairs and wife, the Union Minister for Defence and wife, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air)and wife, the Commander-in-Chief(Navy), senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, trainee officers from the National Defence College, officers and other ranks from respective departments and offices under the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and their families, and they planted trees.
First, the Senior General and wife planted a Pyingadoe tree. Next, the Vice-Senior General and wife, the Union Ministers and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, officers, other ranks and their family members collectively planted teak, Padauk, Pyingadoe,Mahawgani and acacia mangium trees in designated places.
The Senior General and party viewed and encouraged the officers, other ranks and their families collectively growing trees. At today’s ceremony,1,710 teak plants, 1,200 Padauk plants, 280 Pyingadoe plants, 50 Mahawgani plants and 1,320 acacia mangium plants totalling 4,560 plants were grown. For conserving natural environment and ecosystem around Yezin Dam, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army,Navy and Air) planted 150,843 trees of valuable trees, perennial trees and windbreaks from 2011 to the third monsoon tree-planting ceremony in 2019.
Similarly, the third collective monsoon tree planting ceremonies were held in the respective military commands where officers, other ranks and families actively grew plants. A total of 49, 832 plants were grown in Nay Pyi Taw Command,19,555 plants in the Northern Command, 53,846 plants in North-East Command, 20,100 plants in Eastern Command, 22,704 plants in the Central East Command, 23,343 plants in Triangle Region Command,20,877 plants in South-East Command,18,273 plants in Coastal Region Command, 27, 550 plants in Yangon Command, 20,642 plants in South-West Command, 24,391 plants in Western Command, 24,390 plants in North-West Command,41,000 plants in Central Command and 49,346 plants in Southern Command and that Tatmadaw managed to grow 420,409 precious,perennial and shady plants today.
With the aim of preventing deforestation and boosting plant growth in a short time, seeds suitable for regions were grown by dropping from the sky by Tatmadaw helicopter in Sagaing, Magway and Mandalay regions in partnership with the respective military commands from August 15 to 19. A total of 155.92 baskets of seeds were grown on the land of 16, 614.73 acres of lands in Sagaing, Magway and Mandalay regions by dropping from the sky by Tatmadaw helicopter for nine times for greening of dry region.Also in 2012 and 2016, the seeds of tamarind, lead tree and Cassia siamea were grown with the same technique.
