The Tatmadaw has been releasing fish species into the water bodies with the aim of increasing aquatic resources and conserving fish species since 2011. Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) held its second ceremony for 2019 to release fish at Yezin Dam, Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area this evening, and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and released fish.
The ceremony was also attended by the Senior General’s wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe and wife, Union Minister for Defence Lt-Gen Sein Win and wife,Chief of the General Staff (Army,Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife, the Commander-in-Chief(Navy), senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, officers and other ranks from respective departments and offices under the Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army, Navy and Air) and their families.Led by the Senior General and wife, officers, other ranks and their families from the Tatmadaw(Army, Navy and Air)put 150,000 Rohu fish into Yezin Dam. Then, the Senior General and party viewed the officers,other ranks and their families collectively putting fish into the dam.
Since 2011, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) has been putting fish species into the dam. Till today,785,700 fish in various species including Thai barbus fish, silver sturgeon, Rohu, grass-eating Rohu were put into the dam.
Respective military commands also held similar ceremonies. According to official figures, 500,000 fish in various species were put into water in Nay Pyi Taw Command, 500,000 in Northern Command, 500,000 in North-East Command, 616,000 in Eastern Command, 500,000 in Central East Command and 400,000 in Triangle Region Command, 500,500 in South-East Command, 425,000 in Coastal Region Command, 502,000 in Yangon Command, 500,000 in South-West Command, 605,000 in Western Command, 525,000 in North-West Command, 566,750 in Central Command, and 510,000 in Southern Command. Tatmadaw collectively put 7,300,250 fish of different kinds at the respective commands today and more than one million fish of different kinds were put this year.
Tatmadaw managed to put more than 7.8 million fish of different kinds for the first time during 2019 and more than 7.3 million fish of different kinds for the second time, bringing the total to more than 15.1 million.
