Families of Tatmadaw (Army,Navy and Air) and well-wishers donated rice, edible oil, salt, gram,medicines and cash for trust fund of rice to monasteries, nunneries and homes for the aged in Lewe Township of Nay Pyi Taw this afternoon. The ceremony took place at Paukmyaing Monastery in Lewe attended by Presiding Nayaka of Paukmyaing Monastery Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Rajinda and members of the Sangha.
Also present at the ceremony were Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla,Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Union Minister Lt-Gen Sein Win and wife, and Union Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung and wife, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife,Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief(Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, members of Nay Pyi Taw Council, district and township level departmental officials, officials of Myanmar War Veterans Organization, well-wishers, members of social organizations and religious associations.
First, the Senior General and those present took the Five Precepts from the Presiding Nayaka of Paukmyaing Monastery and listened to Metta Sutta recited by members of the Sangha. The Senior General and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla donated offertories, and 482 bags of rice and 1,445 viss of gram donated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) to Paukmyaing Tawya Monastery Abbot.
The Vice-Senior General and wife offered alms, 144.50 viss of edible oil and 1,445 viss of salt donated by Myanma Economic Holdings Public Co Ltd to Taungthonlon Zaytawun Abbot Bhaddanta Vepulla,the Union Ministers, senior military officers and well-wishers alms to members of the Sangha and wife of the Senior General, wife of the Vice-Senior General and party offerings to nunneries.
General Mya Tun Oo presented cash to the trust fund for rice donated by families of Tatmadaw(Army, Navy and Air), and well-wishers cash to the trust fund for rice. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accepted the donations and returned certificates of honour to well-wishers. Then, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and General Mya Tun Oo accepted donations from well-wishers and presented certificates of honour.
Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Myo Zaw Thein supplicated on the purpose of donations from families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air)and well-wishers. Afterwards, the Senior General and those present took a sermon delivered by Paukmyaing Abbot and shared merits gained.
Families of Tatmadaw (Army,Navy and Air) and well-wishers started donations of rice, edible oil,salt, gram, medicines and cash for nine prerequisites in 1996. They have also been making donations to monasteries, nunneries and homes for the aged in eight townships including Pyinmana, Tatkon and Lewe townships of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area since 2006. Today’s donations totalled Ks-11,852,000 for the trust fund of rice, 525 bags of rice, 144.50 viss of edible oil,1,445 viss of gram, 1,445 viss of salt, 3,000 packets of assorted chilli powder, 1,000 packets of turmeric,1,000 packets of spices, 500 bottles of shrimp-paste, 5,000 bottles and 360 packets of assorted medicines and other offerings.
