As all are Myanmar citizens living on the same land, drinking water from the same source and living under same roof, all have the duty to work for the benefit of the country. Regardless of the places they are living in, they will have to work for the betterment and progress of the nation, with the spirit to love the country and the spirit of unity and harmony, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the ceremony to present rice, cooking oil,salt, peas and cash assistance donated by families of Tatmadaw(Army, Navy and Air) and well-wishers for the basic religious school of Joon Mosque and Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral in Chanayethazan Township and Aungmyaythazan Township in Mandalay Region this afternoon.
Present at the ceremony were the Senior General and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander-in-Chief(Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief(Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers of the Office of Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Central Command and wife,well-wishers and invited guests.
In explaining the purpose of the donation, the senior General said five percent of Myanmar are of the Islam faith and six percent are Christians.Myanmar has many Christians and Muslims living in various parts of the country.The Constitution says that the Union recognizes special position of Buddhism as the faith professed by the great majority of the citizens of the Union, and also recognizes Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Animism as the religions existing in the Union. There should not be political instability or conflict on the pretext of religion. Families of Tatmadaw(Army, Navy and Air) and public well-wishers have been donating rice, edible oil, salt,peas, medicines and cash to monasteries, nunneries, homes for the aged and religious associations for a long time.This year started such donations to Islamic organizations and Christian organizations.Now, donations went to the religious school of Joon Mosque and Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral in Chanayethazan and Aungmyaythazan townships.As future holds the people of today, they need to live and work in unity for the betterment of their own region and the country as well as for the peace, stability and the rule of law of their country.
At the religious school of Joon Mosque, the Senior General presented rice, cooking oil, salt, peas and cash donated by families of Tatmadaw(Army, Navy and Air) and public well-wishers to school chairman Haji U Nyi Nyi. The Commander-in-Chief (Navy),the Commander-in-Chief(Air) and public well-wishers also presented donations to officials concerned.
At Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, the Senior General presented donations to Cardinal Father Marku Tin Win. The Commander-in-Chief (Navy),the Commander-in-Chief(Air) and public well-wishers also presented donations to officials concerned.
Patron of Joon Mosque’s religious school Dr Maung Maung and Father Marku Tin Win expressed thanks and said prayers. After the meetings, the Senior General and party cordially greeted the religious leaders and congregation and posed for group photos.
Today’s donations at the religious school of Joon Mosque and Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral in Chanayethazan and Aungmyaythazan townships were Ks-9.5 million,140 bags of rice, six bags of chick peas, four bags of salt and 30 viss of cooking oil.
