Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) Chairman Reverend Dr Hkalam Samson and members at Yangyiaung Parlour of Central Command Headquarters this afternoon.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief(Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. The KBC chairman was accompanied by Rev. U Phaw Raw Tu Maing, Rev. Phaw Yan Khar Li,and U Lamai Gwanja and U Kat Pra Khun Aung from the Peace-talk Creation Group (PCG).
At the call, the Senior General said it is crucial to achieve internal peace as the country is in its pursuance of democracy. The national people must accept multi-party democracy.Under the law, there is no discrimination against any nationality, and they must work hard for their own regional development. When it comes to religion, there is religious freedom for all. So, there should not be unnecessary political instability or conflict on the pretext of religion. To ensure peace, stability and progress, the country must be stable in terms of politics and security. All the people have their duty to work in unity for the development of their own country,said the Senior General.
The KBC chairman said he and Kachin people and organizations were grateful to the Tatmadaw for withdrawing its lawsuit against the KBC over the defamation of Tatmadaw leaders and members by showing benevolent goodwill. He said he was regretful for what had said so despite no intention to attack anyone. They then exchanged cordial views on efforts for achieving peace in Kachin State, return of IDPs,internal peace issue and the need for all national people to live and work in unity.
After the meeting, the Senior General presented gifts to the KBC chairman and members and posed for a group photo.
