As the whole Tatmadaw has been planting industrial crops, precious trees, perennial crops and shade and windbreak plants by holding the monsoon tree growing ceremonies yearly since 2011, more than 12.7 million trees have been grown till the third monsoon tree growing ceremony in 2019, more than 10 million saplings ofwhich are thriving. It needs to nurture the already cultivated trees and plantations for flourishing so as to benefit future generations, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the fourth monsoon tree growing ceremony organized by families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army,Navy and Air) for 2019 near Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area this morning.
Also present at the ceremony together with the Senior General were his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla,Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief(Army)Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, the Union Minister for Home Affairs and wife, the Union Minister for Defence and wife, the Union Minister for Border Affairs, the Chief of the General Staff (Army,Navy and Air) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief(Navy),the Commander-in-Chief(Air) and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army, Navy and Air) and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, senior military officer trainees from the National Defence College,officers, other ranks and families of the offices and departments from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army, Navy and Air).
On the occasion, the Senior General said that today’s fourth tree growing ceremony would be this year’s final one of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army)and all military commands.As industrial crops, precious trees, perennial crops, shade and windbreak plants were grown at the monsoon tree growing ceremonies as of 2011, more than 12.7 million trees have been grown till the third monsoon tree growing ceremony in 2019. Among them, more than 10 million trees are thriving and more than 2 million trees were damaged. It needs to systematically grow the trees for flourishing because time,manpower and money were spent on growing the trees.As loss of more than 2 million saplings is a large amount, it is necessary to systematically cultivate and nurture the saplings so as to thrive for a long time. The tree growing ceremonies aim to have shade and contribute towards climatic conditions as part of efforts to develop the nation and green the environs. He stressed the need to nurture and conserve these trees for successful thriving but just growing is not inadequate.Today’s grown trees will benefit future generations.The Senior General urged all to reduce use of fuel such as charcoal and firewood. As electricity is still insufficient,all need to efficiently use electricity and water sources and share surplus ones with each other for development of their regions and the State.He recognized remarkably successful thriving of industrial crops, precious trees,perennial crops, and shady and windbreak plants at the manageable scale monsoon tree growing ceremonies from 2011 to the fourth time of this year’s ceremonies.The Senior General urged all to grow trees to have successful thriving and officials to systematically nurture and conserve these trees.
Afterwards, the Senior General and wife planted a precious Tamalan tree. Then,the Vice-Senior General and wife, the Union Ministers and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, officers, other ranks and families who attended the ceremony planted precious teak, Tamalan,Mahogany and Manjansha saplings at the designated places.
The Senior General and party viewed round cultivation of saplings by officers,other ranks and families.At today’s fourth monsoon tree growing ceremony for 2019 organized by families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air), a total of 1,458 teak plants, 330 Tamalan plants,700 Mahogany plants and 2,074 Manjansha plants,totalling 4,562 were grown collectively. As part of conserving the environments and maintaining the ecosystem around Yezin Dam,the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) grew 155,405 precious plants,perennial crops and shade and windbreak plants from 2011 to 2019.
Similarly, all military commands held the monsoon tree growing ceremonies for the fourth time with participation of officers, other ranks and families this morning. In so doing, Nay Pyi Taw Command planted 37,860 trees,Northern Command 33,414 trees, North-East Command 22,183 trees, Eastern Command 19,800 trees, Eastern Central Command 19,500 trees, Triangle Region Command 23,734 trees, South-East Command 35,635 trees,Coastal Region Command 22,178 trees, Yangon Command 31,354 trees, South-West Command 14,915 trees, Western Command 16,040 trees, North-West Command 17,450 trees,Central Command 31,000 trees and Southern Command 45,719 trees. Today, the whole Tatmadaw grew 375,344 saplings of precious trees, perennial crops and shade and windbreak plants.
