The 27th ceremony to pay respects to teachers, organized by alumni who attended No 1 Basic Education High School (Central) from 1965 to 1985, took place at Central Sanpya Hall of the school in Latha Township of Yangon.
The ceremony was attended by 50 veteran teachers. Old students who attended the school from 1965 to 1985 together with Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who pursued education from the levels of middle to high school paid respects to veteran teachers.
On arrival at the Central Sanpya Hall, the Senior General and old students were welcomed by members of the respect paying ceremony organizing committee. The Senior General cordially greeted the veteran teachers and paid respects. The veteran teachers gave words of advice. The Senior General cordially greeted the alumni and presented cash awards to distinction winning students.
According to the agenda of the ceremony, the school bell was beaten 27 times, and all attendees sang the High School song at the opening ceremony.
Then, the alumni politely paid respects to veteran teachers in line with Myanmar traditions to express their gratitude.On behalf of the veteran teachers, Sayagyi U Kaung and Sayamagyi Daw Phyu Phyu gave words of advice.
Afterwards, Headmaster U Tin Maung Aye, Chairman of the Organizing Committee U Tin Maung Myint and Patron of Health and Care Group U Khin Maung Sein extended greetings. Then, gifts were given to medical doctors and nurses who provided health care services to veteran teachers and the teachers who participated in the respect paying ceremony. On behalf of the alumni, old student U Zaw Lwin spoke words of thanks. They all paid respects to the veteran teachers with gifts. Later, they sang the High School song and posed for documentary photos.
