Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Mr. Norimasa Tahara, Asia Bureau Chief of Yomiuri Shimbun News Agency of Japan, at the Parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this morning and answered the questions.
In replying to the questions in the interview, the Senior General expressed his views on Tatmadaw’s participation in national defence duty and political reform, the relations between the government and Tatmadaw, matters related to the amendment to the constitution (2008), Tatmadaw’s stance on the efforts to make peace with the ethnic armed groups, matters related to the participation of Tatmadaw members in the Hluttaw, the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) by the ethnic armed groups, the efforts of the Tatmadaw and government to address the Rakhine issue, Myanmar’s diplomatic ties with China, Japan and the United States, Myanmar’s political changes and the government’s activities.
