Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and delegation that is paying a friendly visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam met with President Mrs.Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan of the National Assembly at the building of the National Assembly in Hanoi, Vietnam, this afternoon.
Also present at the call with the Senior General were Quartermaster-General Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Counsellor Daw Win Sandar Swe of Myanmar Embassy to Vietnam and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Aung Zeya. Also present at the call with the National Assembly President were Vietnamese officials.
The Senior General and the National Assembly President discussed matters related to good relations between the two friendly nations along the history, strengthening of the relations between the two countries while trade between the two countries is growing and contacts between the people of the two countries are increasing, appreciation for development of Vietnam due to the efforts of the government of Vietnam and Vietnam Armed Forces and the promotion of Vietnamese investment in Myanmar, appreciation for political transition in Myanmar and efforts of the Tatmadaw to end internal armed conflicts, participation of the Tatmadaw representatives in the Hluttaw for the strengthening of democracy and nation building, Vietnam’s support for the Tatmadaw’s measures concerning Bengalis, rights to defend the sovereignty of the State and Vietnam’s rejection against foreign interference in internal affairs of Myanmar and measures taken by Myanmar as an ASEAN country in accordance with ASEAN agreements.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the National Assembly President exchanged emblems and gifts.
In the morning, the delegation led by the Senior General paid a call on Vietnamese De-fence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich at the parlour of the Ministry of Defence of Vietnam.
Also present at the call with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Counsellor Daw Win Sandar Swe of Myanmar Embassy to Vietnam and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Aung Zeya. Also present at the call with the defence minister were senior officers of Vietnam People’s Army.
The Senior General and the defence minister exchanged views on appreciation for Tatmadaw’s efforts for internal peace and stability, support for Myanmar efforts in Rakhine State issues, acceleration of working level meetings for effective implementation of defence cooperation between Myanmar and Vietnam from 2020 to 2022, appreciation for efforts of Vietnam armed forces for national defence and in public interests, enhancing cooperation in military and industrial sectors, promotion of cooperation in various sectors between the two militaries, cooperation in business enterprises owned by the two militaries and measures to promote development.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the defence minister exchanged emblems and gifts before posing for a documentary photo together with the participants.
