Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a goodwill visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, went to the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s Office this evening. The Senior General paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc in accompany with leaders of the delegations from ASEAN member countries, Russia and China who will be attending the 30th Anniversary of National Armed Forces Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Armed Forces. First, the Vietnamese Prime Minister cordially greeted the leaders of the respective delegations and made a speech. In delivering a speech on behalf of the armed forces of the ASEAN countries, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services of Myanmar extended greetings to Prime Minister Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, defence ministers, deputy defence ministers and military chiefs, chiefs of the general staff and representatives of the ASEAN countries and friendly countries. He said it was an honour to speak on behalf of the armed forces of the ASEAN countries at the 30th Anniversary of National Armed Forces Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Armed Forces. He then wished Vietnam and all friendly nations to stand and develop so long as the world exists.
Most of the Southeast Asian countries had to try their best to achieve independence and sovereignty by getting out of the yoke of colonial rule. Every ASEAN country has a history of pride and respectful sacrifice. Likewise, Vietnam and the Vietnamese armed forces had to struggle to regain national independence and public freedom. With unique efforts and struggles, the people of Vietnam had to be developed into those of a sovereign nation. Dein Bein Phu battle, Tet Offensive and the Fall of Saigon stand witness to the sacrificial efforts of the Vietnamese people and armed forces for independence. The Senior General praised for sacrifice of Vietnamese people and Vietnamese Armed Forces for State independence and harmonious participation in development tasks of the State. State economy of Vietnam has been increasing about seven percent annually from 2000 to 2005. During the period of world economic crisis from late 2000 to 2010, the country could maintain the nation to have around 6.8 percent of economic growth rate. According to the statistics, Vietnam could rapidly reduce not only poverty rate but also unemployment rate to one percent. It can be seen that Vietnam would be new tiger in Southeast Asia. They have capabilities of making brave sacrifice for regaining independence of the State as well as construction capabilities to develop the State. ASEAN countries have common independence struggle histories, close culture and friendly society. They all are implementing One Vision, One Identity, One Community. In so doing, all armed forces need to unitedly cement friendly relations in their respective sectors. The Senior General, on behalf of the ASEAN armed forces, expressed his wish at the ceremony to mark the 30th National Armed Forces Day and the 75th Founding Anniversary of Vietnam People’s Armed Forces of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, saying that may Vietnam, Vietnamese people and Vietnamese Armed Forces be glitter their prestige and integrity. Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Russian Federation Rear Admiral Viktor Nikolayevich Lina delivered a speech while the Prime Minister of Socialist Republic of Vietnam gave a concluding remark. Then, the Vietnamese Prime Minister presented gifts and they all posed for documentary photos.
In the evening, the Senior General and party attended a dinner hosted by the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army in honour of delegates from various countries who attended the ceremony to mark the 30th National Armed Forces Day and the 75th Founding Anniversary of Vietnam People’s Armed Forces of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at Melia Hotel in Hanoi. Minister for National Defence of Vietnam People’s Army General Ngo Xuan Lich and Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang cordially greeted the Senior General and delegates from respective countries and exchanged commemorative gifts. The Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army extended greetings and posed for documentary photos together with delegates from various countries. They had the dinner together. During the dinner, Vietnamese Armed Forces Entertainment Troupe performed songs and dances.
