Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by Chair of the Joint Peace Fund- JPF Ambassador of Finland to Myanmar H.E. Mrs. Riika Laatu at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this morning.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dwe and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Ambassador of Finland was accompanied by JPF Vice Chair Ambassador of Switzerland H.E. Mr. Timenderlin and officials.
Discussion focused on JPF’s cash assistance necessary for Myanmar’s peace process, the need for Myanmar to practise the federal system compatible with its history and prevailing conditions as various global countries practise the federal systems they are suitable for, Tatmadaw’s tolerant attitude towards its peace efforts including unilateral ceasefire in order to achieve eternal peace, holding peace talks including Joint Implementation Coordination Meeting (JICM) on the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement as quickly as possible, Tatmadaw’s launching of investigation as necessary even before the release of the report by the Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE) and measures to be continued in accord with the law.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the Ambassador of Finland exchanged gifts and had a group photo taken together with those present.
