In his address, the Senior General said the battalions and units in the area should serve area security and control tasks together with the local people. National defence task calls for the participation of the people. As every country establishes the armed forces systematically for national defence, all should continuously strive for the Tatmadaw to be imbued with the three capabilities, and to become a reliable force for the people and the country. Of the three capabilities, the military capability is the most important. Full training is required for the effectiveness of the military capability. Basic military principles and rules must be fully observed. All should properly undergo individual and group-wise trainings as they will not be able to do their duties well at a battle field if they are not fully fit. All must undergo regular trainings in enhancing the combat prowess and the fighting power of the Tatmadaw. They must pursue a healthy life, undergo training to be fit, and live as the real soldiers. Proper fitness training must be undergone daily.
The Senior General said smoking and drinking are the source of narcotic abuse. They must stay away from smoking, drinking and betel quid consumption which are worthless and hazardous to health. The consumption of Ks-300 worth of betel quid per day amounts to breaking up two or three eggs for nothing, which are nutritious for the family. So, all should take this into account.
The expense for smoking and betel quid consumption should be used in buying eggs, meat and fish which are beneficial for health. Drinking reduces the self-control power, and may lead to committing crimes. So, all must stay away from drinking to the most possible degree. All must live a healthy life, undergo fitness trainings, and be the real members of the real armed forces. So, all must serve their duties in all seriousness. As they are the Tatmadaw members who serve the national defence duties of own volition, they must be the real soldiers and have full spirit of a soldier, even though there are many other alternative occupations for them. They must be smart in the style of dress, the way of living and actions. They must stay away from drinking and be wise with their diet.
Peace and stability is the main requirement of the nation’s political and security sectors. Moreover, economic stability is alsorequired. The country will be politically unstable if revenge and hatred exist in politics. There will also be difficulty ensuring security and peace so long as armed struggle line exists. All the regions across the Union will have to try for their own regional development and the improvement of skill, knowledge and socio-economy. As there is no armed conflict, China State has more opportunities for development. Meanwhile, local battalions must provide help for the socio-economic improvement of local people.
Leaders must be able to correctly manage all administrative affairs and welfare tasks such as economy, social affairs, health, education and security. Subordinates need to follow military disciplines and laws and present the requirements and difficulties they have. Servicemen are promoted according to their service years. For serving duties of a higher rank, promotion matters will be different depending on one’s own hard work, respect for discipline and being fit and healthy. They must always try to be good and ensure fair rule in the organizations they lead. Each and every soldier has their duty for the good of the entire Tatmadaw.
