Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received United Nations Resident Coordinator to Myanmar Ms. Renata Dessallien at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this morning.
During the meeting, they ex-changed views on the responsibility of the UN, as a mechanism made up of various global countries, to address the challenges that a single nation cannot handle, and global challenges, the need for the UN, as an umbrella organization, to be impartial and unbiased, Myanmar’s focus on cooperation with the UN as it is a member country, Tatmadaw’s cooperation with the UN in various areas including an end to the recruitment of child soldiers, Tatmadaw’s endeavours to become a standard army in accord with the democratic standards and the situation where Myanmar’s reform process could be facilitated through the UN’s fair cooperation.
Also present at the call were Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).
After the meeting, the Senior General presented a gift to the UN resident coordinator.
