Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received officials of NDAA (Mongla) group at Golden Triangle Hall of Triangle Region Command Headquarters this afternoon.
Also present were Commanderin-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commander of Triangle Region Command Maj-Gen Khin Hlaing, and U Sai Lin and party of NDAA (Mongla) group.
At the meeting, the Senior General said his visit is to coordinate all requirements in connection with the COVID-19 in the Triangle Region Command and to provide COVID-19 prevention aids. During the previous trip, virus prevention aids were presented and Tatmadaw medical teams were sent to Mongla region.
Everyone should have the awareness as COVID-19 is unpredictable, unseen and silent. Although vaccine can be produced, potency cannot beguaranteed because of the possible genetic changes.
Shan State (East) should have economic growth through development in health and education. Although the area has resources for generating energy that is essential for development they cannot be tapped for various reasons. Mongla should conduct agriculture and livestock breeding.
The region should utilize its own resources for progress, and the education sector should be encouraged to reach this end. Students of Mongla area who passed the matriculation examination should pursue education at Kengtung University. As the country is a Union collective rather than individual efforts are required.
EAOs including MNDAA Kokang group should abandon the armed struggle line and join the political dialogue. The Tatmadaw is standing firmly on the NCA track in restoring eternal peace. As regards the ethnic affairs, a suggestion is made for the increase in the number of ethnic representative in the respective Hluttaws and the priority is being given to the cause. The government, the people, the Tatmadaw and all the political parties must join hands and work towards national progress.
Intellectuals and intelligentsia will be produced in Mongla for the benefit of the area. The suggestion is made with goodwill for the development of Mongla area. Contact can be made with the command HQ at any time for health requirements as the Tatmadaw is ready to provide necessary assistance.
In their discussions, U Sai Lin and party of NDAA (Mongla) group deeply thanked the Senior General and Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) families for providing COVID-19 prevention aids and medical teams to Mongla area and conducting healthcare services. They also express gratitude for holding COVID- 19 awareness talks in the region.
Mongla region has no positive case. Township medical doctors and Tatmadaw medical teams are constantly providing assistance in the virus prevention works. The region has ended its over 30 years of conflicts in cooperation with the Tatmadaw. Currently, regional development and security undertakings are being conducted through close contacts with the Tatmadaw. The continued assistance of the Tatmadaw in the future is also requested. NDAA (Mongla) group is desirous of pursuing peace.
The Senior General then presented 20,000 surgical masks, 300 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE), 1,000 N95 masks, 250 face shields, six containers of sodium hypochloride (15L), 1,000 examination gloves, 150 bottles of hand gel, 150 bottles of hand sanitizer, food, and foodstuff and social goods manufactured by the Tatmadaw factories and medicines and three kinds of medicine and medical equipment for Mongla hospital. U Sai Lin and party accepted the gifts, and in return presented domestic goods.
After the meeting, the Senior General and entourage cordially greeted U Sai Lin and party.
