Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Chief of the Army Staff of India General MM Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC at Zeyathiri Beikman, here, this afternoon.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and Deputy Minister for Border Affairs Maj-Gen Phone Myat. Chief of the Army Staff of India General MM Naravane was accompanied by Foreign Secretary of India Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Saurabh Kumar, Joint Secretary of Indian Ministry of External Affairs Ms. Smita Pant, Indian Defence Attaché Colonel Ketan Arun Mohite and officials.
They frankly discussed further enhancement of friendly relations between Myanmar and India which are good friend countries, maintaining good relations and cooperation between the two armed forces for many years and further promotion of cooperation in peace and stability of border area, defence, training and other sectors, tasks of Myanmar undertaken in accord with five Peaceful Co-existence Principles and independent, active and non-alignment foreign policies and carrying out of tasks in accord with ASEAN policy, building Myanmar Tatmadaw as a Standard Army, situation of solving conflicts through peaceful ways as all armed forces in every country are to safeguard lives and property of the State and the people without desire to cause armed conflicts, further promoting cooperation between the two countries and two armed forces through bilateral trust, and efforts to ensure good transport and development undertakings in border area.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the Indian Chief of Army Staff exchanged gifts.
