Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing sent a certificate of honour, honorary cash and foodstuff to U Thet Lwin (Poet and Writer Maung Ngwe Hline), the composer of the song “Myakyun Nyo Nyo Tekkatho” who lives at No 15,Khemathi Lane 1,Migyaungkan Ward 3, Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region.
Lt-Gen Thet Pon from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and the commander of Yangon Command visited the home of U Thet Lwin this afternoon, and presented a certificate of honour, Ks-2 million in cash, nutritious supplement food and other items to him in person. A team comprising specialist physicians of the Tatmadaw also provided necessary healthcare for the poet and writer.
Later, family members sang the song “Myakyun Nyo Nyo Tekkatho” with the accompaniment of piano played by U Thet Lwin, the composer of the song.
U Thet Lwin was born on 1-6-1939 in LanmadawTownship, Yangon Region. As a student of Yangon University, he composed the song “Myakyun Nyo Nyo Tekkatho” when he passed the I.Sc (B) in 1959. While serving as a tutor at the Myanmar Department of the Institute of Economics in 1964,U Thet Lwin recorded the song on gramophone together with pianist Ko Hla Ni and Gita Sarso musicband. It became a gramophone recorded song in 1965 and was aired for the first time from Radio Myanmar.Under the pseudonym “Maung Ngwe Hline”, U Thet Lwin composed six songs including “Myakyun Nyo Nyo Tekkatho”.
He started serving as a tutor of the Myanmar Department of Institute of Economics in 1964. He serves at the different levels of posts at the Ministry of Education till his retirement as a director of the Higher Education Department in 1999. Heis now staying with his daughter and her family.
