Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Mr. Hideo WATANABE, former member of the House of Councillors of Japan and Chairman of Japan-Myanmar Friendship Association at Bayintnaung Parlour here this afternoon.
At the meeting, views on the improving military relations between the two countries, the Tatmadaw’s vital role in the democracy reforms of Myanmar, the proper and legal means of the Myanmar government and the Tatmadaw to stop the terrorist attacks of extremist Bengalis in Rakhine State, the use of international media to launch biased accusations painting proper and legal means of the government and the Tatmadaw as wrongdoings, and the need to inform the leaders of the world about the true situation of the Rakhine issue were cordially exchanged.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). Mr. Hideo WATANABE was accompanied by officials of Japan- Myanmar Friendship Association.
