Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo of the SAC, union ministers U Tin Htut Oo and U Hla Moe, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air), senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Chief Minister U Soe Thein of Yangon Region, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay and officials, inspected the implementation of the 26-Mile Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone of Myanmar Economic Corporation near Yangon-Mandalay Expressway.
First, Chairman of Myanmar Economic Corporation Lt-Gen Nyo Saw and Deputy Managing Director U Han Zaw reported to the Senior General on implementation of the 26-Mile Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone and Thilawa Multi-Purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone, the breeding of dairy cows, beef cows and local cows, cultivation of grass for cows, Jade Pheegyan banana variety, windbreak Manjansha trees, rubber trees, rubber tapping from adult trees in 2021-2022 tapping season, the breeding of Kaki King ducks and local ducks in Thilawa Multipurpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone, the breeding of various fish species, production of feed mixers and pellet making machines, distribution of dairy products, measures taken for distribution of agricultural and livestock breeding products at cheaper prices to families of the Tatmadaw and the public from relevant agriculture and livestock breeding zones in accordance with the instruction of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
After hearing the report, the Senior General discussed the details of food needs in Yangon Region with the union ministers, the chief minister and the mayor and gave necessary instructions, saying “Agriculture and livestock breeding zones in the region are required to produce and distribute sufficient meat, fish and eggs and vegetables by calculating the daily needs of them based on the population
in the region. It is necessary to expand livestock breeding zones in townships outside the area of Yangon City Development Committee and to take prudent measures not to affect the commodity flow from Ayeyawady and Bago regions. In addition to the government and the Tatmadaw, private agriculture and livestock breeding farms must be encouraged.
Authorities are required to supply electricity, water and animal feeds for agriculture and livestock breeding farms and to take necessary measures to enable the public in Yangon to purchase meat, fish and eggs at cheaper prices and to produce sufficient food for them in the region. The Tatmadaw is fulfilling the needs as much as it can and the government will also take necessary steps to fulfill the needs. Capital investment will be provided for livestock breeding farms and livestock breeding tasks must be carried out scientifically, compactly and systematically to boost production.
It is necessary to generate the required electricity from solar energy. The electricity generated from solar energy can be used for livestock breeding farms as well as for administrative affairs. The breeding of beef cows and local cows must be carried out separately and everything including their feeding systems must be systematic.
In addition to cultivation of grass for cows, corn can be grown as the plants can be made into fermented animal feed. As the primary aim of the 26-Mile Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone is to fulfil the rubber needs in the country, attempts must be made to meet the demand of rubber product factories.
Rubber trees must be planted as much as possible in areas allocated for rubber plantations.
In breeding ducks, they must be bred in batches to supply eggs uninterruptedly by calculating the egg-laying rates and egglaying time. Comprehensive research must be conducted for further success of duck breeding and measures must be taken to improve local duck breeding.
In conclusion, the Senior General urged all to exert efforts to enable the public to consume products for agriculture and livestock breeding zones at cheaper prices based on the demand of the market.
Then, the Senior General and party inspected the breeding of dairy cows and beef cows, the feed mixing factory, production of dairy products and implementation of agriculture and livestock breeding tasks in the zone and attended to the needs reported by responsible officials.
