Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation H.E.Sergey Lavrov at the Credentials Hall of SAC Office this afternoon.
At the call, matters relating to the observance the Diamond Jubilee of the relations between the two countries as the age of bilateral ties will reach 75 years in 2023, opening of two more Myanmar consulates in Russia to enhance diplomatic relations between the two countries, bonded with true friendship, efforts to open Russian consulates in Myanmar, establishment of permanent friendship and alliance, the power of both governments to maintain the alien-interferencefree internal affairs Russia and Myanmar, extension of Russia-Myanmar friendship associations, exchange of visits between senior government and military officers of the two countries, promotion of defence cooperation, trade and economic cooperation, tourism promotion, cooperation in cultural and religious sectors, sending of more civilian and military scholars for human resources development, cooperation in humanitarian undertakings, international and regional relations, ruling party’s pre-election technological and public relations plots to gain advantage in the 2020 election, Tatmadaw’s assumption of State duties due to the ruling party’s failure to heed its demands to address the vote-rigging programs during the post-election period, the use of violent means although vote-rigging problem was solved in accord with the law, legal punishment given to bombers and assassins, political changes in Myanmar, endeavours to achieve internal peace, roadmap for the election that will be held when peace and stability has been restored in political and security sectors, building of a Union based on democracy and federalism were cordially discussed.
Present at the call together with the Senior General were SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister U Kyaw Myo Htut and officials.
The Russian FM was accompanied by Deputy Minister H.E. Mr. Igor Morgulov, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E.Dr. Nikolay Listopadov and officials.
After the call, the Senior General and Russian FM exchange commemorative gifts.
The diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Russia will reach the age of 75 on 18 February 2023. SAC government has further cemented the economic, trade, science and technology, defence cooperation between the two armed forces and other areas of bilateral cooperation. The Russian FM visited Myanmar in 2013 and held talks with officials.
