Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects Dawei Special Economic Zone and Deep Sea Port projects
Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and Member Jeng Phang Naw Taung of the SAC, union ministers, Chief Minister U Myat Ko of Taninthayi Region, senior military officers from the Office of the Commanderin-Chief Commander of Coastal Region Command Maj-Gen Saw Than Hlaing and officials, inspected Dawei Special Economic Zone and Deep Sea Port projects in Nabule area, 17-mile northwest of Dawei in Taninthayi Region, this morning.
At the briefing hall of the project, Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo and Chairman U Aung Soe of Dawei Special Economic Zone Management Committee reported to the Senior General on initial implementation of the projects, development delays due to various reasons, jetties, factories and buildings which have been completed or under construction or planned in the zone area, and requirements and future tasks for resumption of the projects.
After hearing the reports, the Senior General said; “The special economic zone is a project beneficial not only for the country but also for the international community.” The Senior General also pointed out the needs to implement the projects successfully as goods to be distributed to South Asia and the Gulf region can be transported by East Asian countries to Dawei Deep Sea Port by using a major port in Vietnam while goods from Western countries can be transported from Dawei Deep Sea Port to East Asian countries, to carry out systematic maintenance tasks for completed buildings in the project zone for their durability and to resume the project after tackling issues by the relevant committee.
Then, the Senior General discussed and exchanged views on resumption of the projects with union ministers and senior military officers and studied the scaled model of the projects before giving necessary instructions.
Afterwards, the Senior General and party inspected the sites for construction of the special economic zone and the deep sea port and attended to the needs.
