Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets officers, other ranks and families of Dawei Station, Coastal Region Command
Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander- in-Chief and their wives, Commander of Coastal Region Command Maj-Gen Saw Than Hlaing and officials, met officers, other ranks and families of Dawei Station of the Command.
Political developments
In his speech, the Senior General explained the Tatmadaw’s assumption of State duties after declaring the State of emergency due to the national requirement, different administrative systems of the successive periods and the endeavours of Tatmadaw to steer the nation on the path to multi-party democracy and political developments of the country.
Strengthen defence capacity through efforts
The Senior General said the Tatmadaw’s main duty is national defence. As it is now shouldering the State duties, the Tatmadaw is also working for national peace and stability and progress. Every Tatmadaw member must undergo continuous training to enhance individual capability so that Tatmadaw will become powerful. Throughout the successive periods, efforts have been made to develop human resources of Tatmadaw, to equip it with modern weapons and skills to use them. As defence capacity building is an international practice, Myanmar should exert ongoing efforts to enhance its defence prowess. Training must be conducted to promote the existing human resources, fire power and capability to meet the advancing technology of the era. If every soldier is always dutiful and undergoes daily training well individual capability will improve. Military alertness and awareness is also a requisite.
Adopt a proper living style
Tatmadaw has looked into the basic needs of every soldier to live a contented life in accord with his status and facilitated the staff affairs to the most possible degree. Hence, soldiers should exercise self-control in using their rights. The success of unit-run farming will provide food and manageable-scale farming will also contribute to supporting to food supply as a means. Soldiers must strike a balance between their income and expense and must spend wisely.
Education must be considered as priority
Besides, knowledge-feeding literature is to be studied for being rich in individual knowledge and education of our children must be encouraged as well. There will be difficulties for improvement of our socio-economic life as knowledge will be weak if there will be weakness in education. Therefore, it is to hand down proper education to our children. Literary knowledge worth to be learned must be given to them not only for grade promotion but for improvement of knowledge. For this, we, individually, have to study and learn so that we could share knowledge and need to nurture our children in order that they will be better than us.
As for Tatmadaw members, they need to correctly and dutifully discharge their assigned duties and to keep in mind that their act of taking duties is for the State and the Tatmadaw. The prestige of our Tatmadaw must be promoted through individually disciplined behavior and capabilities.
Foodstuff and cash bonus presented
Afterwards, the Senior General presented foodstuff for officers, other ranks and their families through an official of the station and the wife of the Senior General cash bonus for the maternal and children welfare association of the station through the wife of the commandant of the local division.
After the meeting, the Senior General and party cordially greeted the officers, other ranks and their families.
Then, the Senior General and wife and party visited officers, other ranks and their families receiving medical treatment at the regional military hospital in Dawei and encouraged and presented them with foodstuffs.
The Senior General, his wife and party, accompanied by officials, went and paid homage to Shwe Taung Sar Pagoda, the pride of Dawei.
Chairman of the Pagoda Board of Trustees U Tun Kyi and members welcomed them at the pagoda. The Senior General signed in the visitor’s record book of the pagoda. The Senior General and wife donated cash for the pagoda.
