Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla offered day meals to members of the Sangha who would accept religious titles for 2023 at the Sasana Maha Beikman in the precinct of Nay Pyi Taw Uppatasanti Pagoda this morning.
Also present at the ceremony were a total of 131 internal and external title recipient Sayadaws and three nuns led by specially invited Vice Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Myingyan Presiding Patron of Koehsaungtaik in Myingyan Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Jotikapala and Vice Chairman Presiding Patron of Thiho Pariyatti Buddhist Learning Centre in Kyaukme of Shan State (North) Agga Maha Pandita Dr Bhaddanta Candanasara, together with the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and wife, SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, the council secretary and wife, the joint secretary and wife, council members and their wives, Union level officials, Union ministers and their wives, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials.
Before the meeting, the Senior General offered alms in the emerald almsbowl, fruits, flowers, water and oil lights to the Buddha image in the Beikman.
The ceremony was opened with three time recitation of Namo Tassa. The congregation led by the Senior General and wife took the Five Precepts from the Vice Chairman Myingyan Sayadaw and members of the Sangha recited Metta Sutta.
The Senior General and wife donated offertories to Vice Chairman Myingyan Sayadaw, SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, to the Vice Chairman Thiho Pariyatti Buddhist Learning Centre in Kyaukme of northern Shan State Dr Bhaddanta Candanasara, SAC members and relevant heads at the ceremony, to title recipient Sayadaws.
The Senior General and wife, the Vice-Senior General and wife donated offerings to title recipient nuns.
Presiding Patron of Thiho Pariyatti Buddhist Learning Centre in Kyaukme Sayadaw delivered a sermon, and the congregation shared merits gained with recitation of Bu-ddha Sasanam Ciram Titthatu three times before concluding the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and wife offered day meals to title recipient members of the Sangha and nuns at home and abroad for 2023 led by Vice Chairman Myingyan Sayadaw and Vice Chairman Thiho Pariyatti Buddhist Learning Centre in Kyaukme Sayadaw.
