Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects functions to rerun No.1 Oil Refinery (Thanlyin)

Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Joint SAC Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, SAC members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, union ministers, the Yangon Region chief minister, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Yangon Command commander and officials, inspected functions to rerun No.1 Oil Refinery (Thanlyin) of Myanmar Petrochemical Enterprise (MPE), Ministry of Energy, in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region, this afternoon.

First, the Senior General and party were welcomed by Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, Director General U Aung Myint of MPE and members.

At the refinery parlour, the union minister and the director general reported on brief history of the refinery, mechanical details and related works, past operations of the refinery and future programs, national energy sufficiency programs based on existing energy sources, production capacity of domestic refineries and plans to upgrade them, and raw material supply.

In response, the Senior General dealt with matters relating to rerunning the refinery and other areas where supported is required. Expense for importing energy for domestic needs and the cost for upgrading local industries to rerun at full capacity must be taken into account in carrying out the factory renovation project, he said. The initial program is to restore the production capacity of the No.1 Oil Refinery (Thanlyin) before continuing the project.

Swift implementation of the project is a must as it will be a beneficial project that will help fulfill the local energy demand.

The Senior General and party then looked around the refinery, and the refinery B, lubricant factory, liquefied gas storage in its compound. The Senior General looked into the requirements and urged officials to make efforts to rerun the refinery at the earliest possible time as it will help fulfill the local need.

Afterwards, the Senior General presented cash awards to staff of the refinery through the officials.
