The final match and prizegiving ceremony of the Football Tournament (Men) of the Inter-Education Degree College Sports Competition for the 2023-2024 academic year took place this evening at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw, and Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing watched the match and gave away prizes.
Among the spectators were SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, SAC members, Union level persons, Union ministers, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers, deputy ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, permanent secretaries, directors general, rectors, deputy directors general, sports competition organizing committee members and officials, managers and coaches from competing teams, athletes, students and teachers from education degree colleges, and staff from ministries and families.
First, the Senior General and party watched the final between Mandalay Zone (A) team and Mandalay Zone (B) team.
In the match, the two teams competed against each other as they were participating in the finals. Mandalay Zone (B) scored the leading goal at the 16th minute of the first half and scored the second goal again at the 36th minute of the game. After that, they continued to compete in the second half, and at the 50th minute, Mandalay Zone (B) scored the third goal again.
Then, both sides put pressure on each other and at the 59th minute of the game, Mandalay Zone (A) scored the first equalizing goal and scored the second equalizing goal in the 74th minute.
However, at the end of 90 minutes, Mandalay Zone (B) won the Mandalay Zone (A) by 3-2, and won the trophy.
After the competition, the awarding ceremony continued.
Union Minister Dr Nyunt Pe and SAC members Dr HmuHtan, Mann Nyein Maung, Poral Aung Thein and Daw Dwe Bu presented the best goalkeeper award, the best defender award, the best midfielder award and the best striker award and the best player awards of the tournament to individual players.
Next, SAC member U Wunna Maung Lwin presented the prize money to the Yangon Zone (B) team that won the consolation prize, and SAC member Lt-Gen Nyo Saw medals and cash awards to the Yangon Zone (A) team that won the third prize and SAC member Lt-Gen Yar Pyae to the Mandalay Zone (A) team, which won the second prize.
After that, SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo awarded individual medals to the Mandalay Zone (B) team that won the first prize.
Then, the Senior General awarded the prize money and trophy to the Mandalay Zone (B) team, which won the first prize.
After the award ceremony, the Senior General and party cordially greeted the competing athletes.
