NAY PYI TAW April 9
Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing cordially meets departmental personnel and town elders in Cocokyun Township
Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Joint Secretary of the Council Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and wife, members of the Council, union ministers, Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Soe Thein, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in- Chief, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Zaw Hein and officials, met departmental personnel, locals and the town elders at the City Hall of Cocokyun Township in Yangon Region this morning.
At the meeting, firstly, the departmental personnel and town elders reported on regional facts and the needs for development of the region.
Afterwards, the Senior General greeted the departmental personnel and town elders wishing them all the best. The Senior General said he got to Cocokyun Township on April 8, 2012 for the first time and this has been the 19th time to get to the township. The Tatmadaw helped the Cocokyun region much for the improvement of the region’s socio-economic life. Now, he is happy to see that Cocokyun has developed many times compared to 11 years ago.
The Tatmadaw and the government have been providing assistance for the regional development as much as they can and the locals need to cooperate as well. Cocokyun is a region having difficulties in transport and communications and it was seen that there was no suitable development in the region. In the time of the political government, there was a weakness in unity and its development was slow and delayed.
When I was in Cocokyun for the first time, I said I would help for the development of the region as much as I can and I did help much for its development. Today, a monument to mark auspicious ground was set up at the meeting point of two seas, Andaman Sea and Bay of Bangal. As Cocokyun has a lot of natural scenery including the meeting point of two seas, efforts are being made for the development of the tourism industry there. Natural scenery of the region is being developed for development of the region and coco trees are being planted as well. Coco trees grown in the regional naval headquarters in Cocokyun Township now will be fruitful within a few years’ time. This is not for the interests of the Tatmadaw but that for the locals in Cocokyun. Operating cattle farming businesses systematically will be beneficial to the region. Only if regional businesses are successfully operated, will the region and locals earn income. As commodity production businesses based on agriculture and livestock farming will help the region develop, all are to make efforts for that.
It is learnt that education in the Cocokyun region is still weak. Teaching is given priority in basic education level and studying in higher education level. Therefore, it is necessary to systematically teach students to ensure that the students will have good thinking and know academic subjects correctly. If students’ thinking is good, their life will be beautiful. As reading helps you get educated, it is necessary to promote literature studies and reading power. Arrangements have been made for the students in the Tatmadaw community to profitably spend summer school holidays.
There are departmental personnel who are the locals and those from outside the region as well. The local ones need to discharge duties for the interests of the Cocokyun region with the use of their experience and knowledge gained in the region and are to make good suggestions for the regional development. Sharing your knowledge is doing a good deed. I wish the people living in the Cocokyun region and departmental personnel more successful in the New Year than before and you all are urged to make more efforts for regional development.
Then, the Senior General presented foodstuffs for departmental personnel in the township through U Hsan Min, chairman of Township Administration Council.
After the meeting, the Senior General and party cordially greeted the departmental personnel and town elders.
Afterwards, the Senior General and party enjoyed a traditional Thingyan water pouring event together with the departmental personnel in the township, town elders and locals welcoming the New Year.
Later, the Senior General and party took a tour of the township and the locals on the road waved their hands to them during the tour.
