State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attends opening of Kengtung detour road

    Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a ceremony to open the detour road in Kengtung, Shan State (East) this morning.

Also present on the occasion were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and wife, SAC members and wives, union ministers and wives, the Shan State chief minister and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the Triangle Region Command commander, departmental officials, local elders, local ethnic people, ethnic cultural troupes, and students.

First, the Senior General and wife arrived at the venue of the ceremony where they were warmly welcomed by the local elders, local ethnic people, ethnic cultural troupes, and students.

Next, SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, SAC members General Mya Tun Oo and Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, and Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung formally cut the ribbon to open the ceremony. The Senior General pressed the button to open the stone plaque of the Kengtung detour road and sprinkled scented water on it.

Then, the SAC joint secretary and members, union ministers and officials also sprinkled scented water on the plaque.

After that, the Senior General, wife and party and those in attendance posed for documentary photos. The Senior General then presented cash awards to the band, pon pon troupe, traditional ethnic dance troupes and cultural troupes.

Later, the Senior General and party inspected the Kengtung detour road, cordially greeted the local elders, local ethnic people, departmental staff and students, and went along the road in a motorcade.

The Kengtung detour project along Meiktila-Taunggyi-Kengtung-Tachilek Road commenced in 2019 with the aim of reducing traffic congestion and facilitating commodity flow in the town of Kengtung. The 23 feet wide and six miles long detour road is a tar-concrete one.
