Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivers speech at meeting on peace and stability and development of Yangon Region

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a speech at the meeting on peace and stability and development of Yangon Region at the meeting hall of Konmyinttha in Yangon Region this afternoon.

Also present at the meeting were Council members Admiral Tin Aung San and Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, Union ministers, the Yangon Region Chief Minister, highranking military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Yangon command, Yangon Mayor, ministers of the regional government, senior military officers and departmental officials.

First, the Senior General delivered a speech, saying that the unrests occurred in Yangon Region in the early time when the State Administration Council served the State responsibilities. And then, the unrests changed to armed violence and destructions. Hence, some townships were under control of the martial law. At present, terror acts happen in some areas of the nation, but people can freely go anywhere in Yangon Region. As terrorists attempt to commit terror acts taking a chance in unguarded moment of security forces, individuals have always to monitor movements of terrorists with security awareness and knowledge for ensuring peace and stability. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing stressed the need to wipe out terrorists in Yangon Region. The military command and regional government to coordinate measures to be taken for peace and stability and development in Yangon Region.

The Senior General continued that it is necessary to continue forging peace and stability in Yangon Region. The Senior General stressed the need to sustain security and stability at a time when democratic route is being initiated. Weak education and economic sectors have been harming rule of law in the country in successive eras. A half of population is weak in security knowledge. So, crimes happen. Those who lack knowledge to analyze good and bad things can commit crimes possibly, so it is necessary to raise knowledge and critical thinking of the people through release of true information in various ways and means. Officials need to supervise all measures of security in districts, townships, wards and villages in Yangon Region.

Commander of Yangon Region Maj-Gen Zaw Hein reported on efforts to take peace, stability and security measures in the region, welfare for security forces and beautification tasks in relevant wards and villages of military stations.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein presented development undertakings in Yangon Region, endeavours for betterment of road transport, beautifying Yangon City, and operation of agriculture and livestock zones.

Council Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo explained necessary to take care of peace and stability as well as security measures in the region, systematic functions of checkpoints, requirement of stabilizing prices of gold and foreign currencies, systematic eradication of narcotic drugs, and preventive activities against those who undermine peace and stability.

In conclusion, the Senior General said that stipulations must be done for the people in region through media. It is necessary to systematically manage traffic rules. Allocated lands must be utilized for agriculture and livestock farms in order to contribute to food supply for the people. Supervision must be done for proper flow of water and beautification tasks in relevant townships of Yangon city. The Senior General stressed the need to grow trees in all residences in townships and districts where the Development Department need to cut off dangerous branches of trees. It is necessary to urge people to grow trees in vacant lands for greening the environs and people and authorities need to join hands with each other to ensure peace and stability in Yangon Region.
