Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army, Navy and Air) held a ceremony to offer Waso robes for 2024 at Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) here this morning. Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the ceremony and offered Waso robes, alms and a day meal.
Present to pay respects to 27 Sayadaws led by Ovadacariya Sayadaws of Uppatasanti Pagoda Board of Trustees led by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Patron of Thanlyin Minkyaung Pathamapyan Sarthintaik in Thanlyin, Yangon Region, Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, and Secretary of SSMNC Patron of Masoeyein Taikthit, Mandalay, Sayadaw of Dhammathamiddhi Monastery Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Maha Dhamma Kathika Bahujana Hitadhara Bhaddanta Vasethabhivamsa were the Senior General and wife, Vice Chairman of the SAC Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife, Union level officials and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives and officials.
First, the Senior General paid homage and offered a meal in an emerald bowl, flowers, water and oil lamps to the Buddha Image in Anawrahta Hall.
Next, the ceremony was opened with a three-time recitation of Namotassa, and the congregation led by the Senior General and wife took the Nine Precepts from the SSMNC Chairman Sayadaw. Sayadaws recited Parittas.
Then, the Senior General and wife offered Waso robes and alms to the SSMNC Chairman Sayadaw.
The Vice-Senior General offered Waso robes and alms to SSMNC Secretary Sayadaw.
After that, those in attendance and wives offered Waso robes and alms to the remaining Sayadaws.
The Senior General and wife and the congregation heard a sermon delivered by the SSMNC Secretary Sayadaw and the merits gained were shared. The ceremony then came to a close after a three time recitation of Buddha Sasanam Ciram Tittatu.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and wife, the Vice-Senior General and the senior military officers in attendance offered day meal to the Sayadaws.
