A ceremony to honour soldiers of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and children of inservice Tatmadaw members, war veterans, substitute civilian service persons who passed the matriculation examination for academic year 2023-2024 with flying colours and qualified for outstanding students was held at Zeyathiri Villa here this afternoon, addressed by Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who gave away honorary awards.
Present at the ceremony together with the Senior General were wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC member Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air), union level officials and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the chair of Central Executive Committee of Myanmar War Veterans Organization and members, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, administrators and principals, prizewinner soldiers and students of Tatmadaw basic education high schools and Tatmadaw education schools, parents, teachers and invited guests.
In his address, the Senior General said education is the main foundation of national development, and also acts as a motivation for citizens to observe ethics and discipline and to embrace collective action. Emergence of highly educated and qualified human resources supports national development and nation-building undertakings. A country will gain progress only if it’s rich in human resources with intellectual and technological knowledge and brilliant thinking power.
SAC has adopted a policy that ensures educational opportunity for all school age children and a compulsory KG+9 program.
It has also opened basic education high schools in 84 districts as a portal for students to study mechanical, agricultural and breeding subjects after the completion of KG+9. It also made arrangements in advance for those who have completed studies at the schools to continue advance studies on the said subjects.
Long-term education promotion is the best and most effective and appropriate means to build the country’s future.
Imbalanced progress between intellectual knowledge and technological knowledge will form weaknesses in the country’s political, economic and social sectors, and they are sure to have adverse effects on national unity. All must have the awareness of the education promotion programs for a bright future and should collectively partake students. Among them, 38 have obtained medical degrees, 35 engineering degrees, and 41 other degrees. Additionally, to gain experience and shape their future, 257 outstanding students have been sent on eight study tours abroad, believing that the experiences gained will benefit national development.
Today, countries around the world, including our own, face various challenges. While developed nations with advanced knowledge and skills can overcome these challenges, less developed nations face numerous difficulties. Therefore, it is essential for everyone to unite and establish a modern and effective education system to ensure comprehensive education for all.
Hence, young attendees are encouraged to strive to become exceptional and reliable individuals who can be relied upon by the nation.
Afterward, Adjutant General Lt-Gen Soe Min Oo explained the achievements of the outstanding soldiers, children of military families, retired military personnel, and civil servants’ children who excelled with distinctions in five or more subjects in the 2023-2024 academic year university entrance exams. He also elaborated on the awardwinning statuses of students from military education schools, basic education schools, and outstanding individuals.
After that, the awarding ceremony continued and officers’ in-charge of school administration from basic education high schools under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare that won the first, second and third places in 2023-2024 university entrance exams were presented with an award and certificate of honor by the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.
Furthermore, the Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services presented medals, awards and Certificates of Merit to the 5 winners of the Merit Award and two outstanding students who passed the matriculation exam with 6 distinctions.
After that, the wife of the Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Daw Kyu Kyu Hla awarded presented medals, awards and Certificates of Merit to the 5 winners of the Merit Award and five outstanding students who passed the matriculation exam with 6 distinctions.
After that, the Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, presented award and certificate of honor to the principals of the basic educational schools that won the first, second and third places of best passers from the basic educational schools under the Tatmadaw in the 2023-2024 academic year.
Next, the Vice-Senior General presented medals, awards and Certificates of Merit to the 5 winners of the Merit Award and two outstanding students who passed the matriculation exam with 6 distinctions.
Then, the Council member, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and his wife, Council Secretary Lt-Gen. Aung Lin Dway and his wife, Council Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen.Ye Win Oo and his wife, Council Member Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San’s wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Commodore Htein Win and his wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, Lt-Gen. Thet Pone and Lt-Gen.
Phone Myat from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Lt-Gen. Sein Win (retired) Central Executive Chairman of Myanmar War Veterans’Organization and Adjutant General Lt-Gen. Soe Min Oo presented medals, awards and Certificates of Merit to the winners of the Merit Award, outstanding students and other ranks.
After the awards were presented, a student expressed her gratitude on behalf of the outstanding students and the soldiers. After that, the Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and the members took documentary photographs with the outstanding students and the soldiers.
After that, the Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and his wife presented the attendees, prize-winning soldiers, students, parents and teachers with food. While enjoying the food, artists from the Myawady Music Band under the command of the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare performed songs honouring the youths.
After the reception, the Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and his wife and members greeted warmly to prize-winning soldiers, students and parents.
