National security chiefs of BIMSTEC member countries and the BIMSTEC secretary general who were going to attend the Fourth BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs’ Meeting to be hosted by Myanmar paid a courtesy call on Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the Credentials Hall of the SAC Chairman’s Office here this afternoon.
Present at the call together with the Senior General were SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Minister at SAC Chairman’s Office 1 Admiral Moe Aung, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung and officials. National security chiefs, H.E. Shri Ajit Doval from India, Ambassador Abdul Motaleb Sarker from Bangladesh, Mr. Sonam Wangyel from Bhutan, H.E. Mr. Harishchandra Ghimire from Nepal, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP Ndc psc MPhil from Sri Lanka, Ms. Kanyarat Angkanavisalya from Thailand, and BIMSTEC Secretary General H.E. Mr. Indra Mani Pandey.
First the Senior General extended greetings. Then national security chiefs of BIMSTEC member countries, representatives and the BIMSTEC secretary general presented individual reports on cooperation with BIMSTEC, challenges and the collective efforts to find answers to them.
The Senior General and the security chiefs of BIMSTEC member countries, representatives and the BIMSTEC secretary general cordially discussed matters relating to the establishment of BIMSTEC and the goals, cooperation in the economic development, peace and stability, social requirement and communication sectors among the BIMSTEC member countries, collective undertakings among the member countries in counternarcotic, counterterrorism, anti-human trafficking and cyber security issues, development of member countries, overcoming the challenges through regional cooperation, successful holding of the Fourth BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs’ Meeting to be hosted by Myanmar in a transparent manner, successful holding of the BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand, Myanmar’s latest developments and preparations to successfully hold a free and fair multiparty general election.
After the meeting, the Senior General and party and security chiefs of BIMSTEC member countries, representatives and the BIMSTEC secretary general posed for group documentary photos.
