Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and those from relevant military command have been holding the manageable scale monsoon tree growing ceremonies since 2011, aimed at conserving environment, contributing to easing impacts of climate change, give shade and supporting the State economy on one hand.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing grew a teak tree at the first monsoon tree-growing ceremony of families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air)near Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw today.
The ceremony was also attended by Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, Union level officials and wives, senior officer trainees from the National Defence College, officers and other ranks from offices and department of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and families.
Monsoon tree-growing ceremonies held as serving a national duty Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General said that in accord with the motto: “People who love forest and trees, grow trees yearly for winning treasury”, lovely conserving forests and trees and growing more trees create many advantages to the State. Tatmadaw has been holding the monsoon tree-growing ceremonies for a decade on a yearly basis starting from 2011. Such ceremonies aim to sustain forest resources of the State and conserve environment and valuable ecosystems as a national duty.
From 2011, families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) has been planting more than 180,000 trees in order to conserve environs of Yezin Dam and ecosystem by holding the monsoon-tree growing ceremonies, more than 100,000 trees of which are thriving now. The whole Tatmadaw grew more than 21 million of saplings from 2011 to 2022, more than 15 million of which are thriving, accounting for more than 70 percent.
Myanmar owns many natural resources, focusing on agricultural task. Water is essential for agriculture sector. In line with the saying which goes:
Weather depends on forests, forests helps improve climatic conditions and control water.
Hence, it is necessary to grow trees to be thrived and continue conservation of these trees to have growth in the long run.
Perennial trees cannot immediately benefit the people but give shade and safety to posterity Establishment of a forest needs to take more than 10 years.
It cannot immediately benefit the people but give shade and safety to new generations. It is noticeable that forefathers grew trees, so current people can live greening and beautifying environments in favorable climates.
Nay Pyi Taw is being shaped as a green city forever and beautification tasks have been undertaken since its establishment.
Thanks to conserving the flowery plants and shade trees in establishment of the Nay Pyi Taw, everybody can enjoy scenic beauties and shade now. If a town and then the whole country can be greened, Myanmar will be in conformity with the environment and will have the capacity to overcome natural disasters.
The Senior General and wife plant a teak tree The Senior General and wife grew a teak tree. The Vice-Senior General and wife, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife as well as Tatmadaw members and families planted saplings at the designated places. The Senior General and wife viewed round participation of Tatmadaw members and families in the tree-growing ceremony.
A total of 189,189 precious plants, perennial trees, windbreaks grown around Yezin Dam from 2011 to first tree-growing ceremony in 2023 At the first tree-growing ceremony held today,families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) planted 1,764 teak plants, 882 Manjansha plants and 882 gum kino plants, totaling 3,528.
Tatmadaw held 36 tree-growing ceremonies to plant 189,189precious plants, perennial trees and windbreaks from 2011 to the first tree-growing ceremony in 2023.
The whole Tatmadaw grew 210,398 trees the same day Relevant military command areas held monsoon tree-growing ceremonies in growing precious plants, industrial crops, perennial crops and windbreaks.
Commanders and officials grew 11,470 trees in Nay Pyi Taw Command, 14,986 trees in Northern Command, 9,135 trees in North-East Command, 10,225 trees in Eastern Command, 23,835 trees in Eastern Central Command, 14,875 trees in Triangle Region Command, 13,695 trees in South-East Command, 13,121 trees in Coastal Region Command, 16,710 trees in Yangon Command, 8,906
trees in South-West Command, 16,289 trees in Western Command, 8,761 trees in North-West Command, 37,880 trees in Central Command and 6,982 trees in Southern Command, totaling 210,398 trees.
