NAY PYI TAW August 26
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his entourage, the Mandalay Region Chief Minister and officials this morning visited Mandalay Education Degree College of the Teacher Training Department of the Ministry of Education and met tutors and trainees.
First, Deputy Minister for Education Dr Moe Zaw Tun, Principal of the degree college Daw Moe Moe Kyi and teachers welcomed the Senior General. At Pyinnya Tazaung Assembly Hall of the degree college, the Senior General met with tutors and trainees. Principal Daw Moe Moe Kyi reported to the Senior General on facts about the Degree College, academic measures and needs of educational buildings.
In his discussion, the Senior General said that he was glad to meet those tutors and trainees from the degree college. According to the population and household census collected in 2014, weak points in educations sector can be seen in Myanmar. By addressing these weaknesses, it is necessary to encourage education sector without fail for building the State with good human resources. Only when
number of educated human resources increase will the State develop.
Political changes of the State
The Senior General said that he would like to explain some points of the political changes of the State and education sector to tutors of the Degree College and trainees who would be educational staff. Tatmadaw has been shaping the State with the implementation of the multi-party democratic system the people aspire to since 2011. Joining hands with the elected government, Tatmadaw has been undertaking development of the State. In some measures to serve the interests of the State, Tatmadaw could cooperate with the elected governments but faced some difficulties in cooperation with them for initiating some issues. At a time when COVID-19 broke out worldwide in 2019, Tatmadaw suggested the government at that time to make preparations against the pandemic but it did not make preparations. When COVID-19 broke out in Myanmar, the government faced many difficulties in conducting prevention,
treatment and control measures. As Tatmadaw has made preparations, necessary assistance could be given as much as possible. As it was a time to hold the election, although Tatmadaw suggested to suspend the process of election temporarily, the government did not accept the suggestion and continued the process. Depending on outbreak of COVID-19, the government at that time committed malpractices
in casting votes in advance and compiling voter lists for their party to achieve victory. As the voter lists were seen with many differences in releasing the voter list after the election, political parties requested
Tatmadaw to scrutinize the voter list. So, Tatmadaw scrutinized the voter lists with the help of experts, and more than 10 million of voting frauds could be found. Although Tatmadaw informed officials of solving the problems of voting errors, they did not solve it and attempted to forcibly grasp the State power by convening the Hluttaw with elected representatives based on voting frauds. So, Tatmadaw took the State responsibilities by declaring the State of Emergency under the Constitution. CEC members of NLD and
chief ministers of some regions were involved in committing the voting frauds. The voting frauds led to protests and riots and then to mobbing activities changed to the armed terror acts. Due to voting frauds, it
made attempts to solve the State of Emergency of the nation with armed terror acts, without using political ways. In reviewing these processes, it showed lesser educated persons of the nation. Without focusing on interests of the State, they destroy the future of the State with the armed terror acts.
Enhancing educational capability
Therefore, we are encouraging education to develop its skills. We are shaping the future of the country with educated human resources. In the midst of crises such as the timing of the outbreak of the COVID-19 disease and the political difficulties, efforts have been made to reopen schools and to prevent the loss of students’ education rights. The government is actively promoting educational activities, and the teaching officials also need to teach all students to be able to really learn the classes. As well as being educated, they will also need to read, so the development of libraries and the promotion of reading are being carried out. By opening libraries, people, who have reached an age where they can no longer be educated, will be able to study, and acquire knowledge and skills. By opening libraries in basic education schools, children’s good reading habits and reading power will improve and they will gain more knowledge and awareness.
During the course, students should learn systematically and strive to raise the level of education in the regions where they work
At this college, teachers from all over the country come to take courses, so I would like them to think about how to improve education in their own regions. Doing so is to make the country better. In order to overcome the difficulties faced by their respective areas, they need to discuss and take action. If the reading, memorizing and discussions are to be carried out, the measures will be further improved during the four-year period. During the period of four years, the training should be carried out systematically and these exercises should be applied again during their service. Teachers must teach and train the students for physical fitness training and travelling in accordance with the rules. If learning is done in an orderly manner, the teaching will be done smoothly. Mainly, the teachers need not to be indolent in reading and they are the ones who have to carry out the re-education, so they must continuously read and study literature knowledge.
There may be language difficulties for class education in ethnic areas. As for the ethnic groups who are currently studying at the Education Degree College, when they arrive in the areas where they serve, ensure that the students are truly literate and make an effort to increase the number of grades. With high transitions, educated human resources will become abundant.
After completing the course, they need to continue to study the literature while working. In addition, they need to constantly work on studying the environment. Experiences and perspectives may vary between villages and cities, allowing individuals to adapt their work environments based on the living systems they encounter. The light of knowledge obtained from reading and studying the literature of each one of them will be able to provide a lot of support for the progress of life, and they must be able to bring light and the right direction to their family and the environment in which they carry out their duties.
Education is not only teaching literature, but also knowledge and skills are also included. If you study diligently for four years, you’ll gain knowledge that illuminates like a light. Students need to share the experience and knowledge they gained during the course when they enter service. Doing so is for the betterment of the country. To walk the path of a multi-party democracy that strengthens the nation, it’s essential to become a disciplined people’s organization and community, and for that to happen, those who will carry out the teaching responsibilities must work together. We must learn from the weaknesses that occurred in our country in the past and shape and build the future state through education. To really teach and learn the knowledge and skills taught by this college and improve their success throughout their lives, he would like to encourage everyone to take part in the role of education promotion in the country, the Prime Minister said.
Then, the Chairman of the State Administration Council, the Prime Minister and his wife donated public science books, research books, and publications and teaching aid to the Mandalay Education Degree College library, where they were received by the principal. After that, the Prime Minister greeted the teachers and students who attended the ceremony cordially.
