Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army, Navy and Air) held a ceremony to offer Waso robes at Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) here this morning.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended it and offered Waso robes, alms and a day meal.
The ceremony was graced by 27 Sayadaws including Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Patron of Minkyaung Pathamapyan Sarthintaik in Thanlyin, Yangon Region, Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhama Jotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Sandima Bhivamsa and Ovadacariya Sayadaws of the Uppatasanti Pagoda. Also presentat the ceremony together with the Senior General and wife were Vice Chairman of the SAC Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, the Commander-in- Chief (Air) and wife, Union level persons and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives and officials.
First, the Senior General paid homage and offered a meal in an emerald bowl, flowers, water and oil lamps to the Buddha Image in Anawrahta Hall.
Next, the ceremony was opened with a three-time recitation of Namaw Tassa, and the congregation took the Nine Precepts from the Sayadaws.
Then, the Senior General and wife offered Waso robes and alms to the Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw.
The Vice-Senior General and wife offered Waso robes and alms to Vice Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Patron of Siho Pariyatti Sarthintaik in Kyaukme, Shan State, Agga Maha Pandita Dr Bhaddanta Candana Sara. After that, those in attendance and wives offered Waso robes and alms to the remaining Sayadaws.
The Senior General and wife and the congregation heard a sermon delivered by the Siho Pariyatti Sarthintaik Sayadaw sharing merits gained. The ceremony then came to a close after a three-time recitation of Buddha Sasanam Ciram Tittatu.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and wife, the Vice-Senior General and wife and the senior military officers in attendance offered day meals to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha.
