Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing separately met officers, other ranks of Hmawby Air Base Headquarters, female cadets of Officers Training School (Army) in Hmawby and trainees of female officer infantry pla toon commander course at the respective halls this morning.
Also present together with the Senior General were SAC member Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Commander in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Zaw Hein, OTS commandant, officer instructors, trainees of female officers and female cadets.
Role of Tatmadaw (Air)
In his address, the Senior General said in modernizing the Tatmadaw, the prowess of Tatmadaw (Navy) and Tatmadaw (Air) must also be upgraded, in addition to Tatmadaw (Army). Tatmadaw (Air) has been up graded throughout the successive periods and reinforced with modern planes and he licopters. Myanmar is the country that uses jet fighters first in ASEAN and Southeast licopters. Air Force is providing air support for ground transport and important operations. It is much helpful for the ground troops.
In upgrading Tatmadaw (Air), machines and accessories are being provided in addition to aircraft. The work of implementing national defence policies with air power calls for systematic training and high individual ability and morale.
Role of servicewomen
Since olden times, Tatmadaw has appointed and assigned duties to servicewomen. But for certain reasons, there was a long interval during which no servicewomen of any other branches except from medical corps were enlisted. In 2014, arrangements were made to enlist female military officers in Tatmadaw, and they are now serving in Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and various branches of the corps. Moreover, female personnel were also assigned in other ranks and the Tatmdaw continues the servicewomen enlisting program.
Female officer cadets are graduates, so they have a lot of experience in university campus culture and social relationship. They have already reached the age of making own decisions, and as they have joined the Tatmadaw of own volition, they have firm and correct concept. Systematic training is required for physical and mental fitness and they must pursue the training lessons with firm spirit. They will be successful in training lessons only if their morale is good. Military training indeed is a combat training. They must sharpen the knowledge gained at the course during their ser vice. As cadets have reached a certain point of the daily training they now have the habit of doing things systematically. Taking responsibility is a good practice and a systematic living style is a good practice of Tatmadaw.
After completing the officer training course, it is necessary to maintain oneself in a disciplined manner to become good officers, acting with a sense of awareness in carrying out the assigned duties. It is also important to continuously engage in reading and studying literature and knowledge that will benefit oneself. If consistent study and reading are maintained, it will assist in effectively performing one’s duties. Additionally, there should be efforts to utilize and share the knowledge gained from reading. Through reading, memorizing, and discussing, one should aim to strengthen their knowledge. In fulfilling their duties, they must strive to become reliable and trustworthy female officers for the nation and the Tatmadaw.

All who join the Tatmadaw have done so willingly, without the influence or urging of any one, indicating that they fundamentally possess a good spirit and mindset. Those who join the Tatmadaw are expected to up hold the highest level of loyalty, as reflected in the four solemn oaths: “I pledge to sacrifice my life for my country, my fellow citizens, and my armed forces.” Each member of the military, having taken this oath, must remain loyal to themselves, their organization, and their country, maintaining a strong conviction. It is desired that they fulfill the responsibilities assigned to them with competence, demonstrating their dedication and loyalty. Just as the Tatmadaw is a part of the state, the military personnel are also part of the people, originating from among the citizens. They form a committed group sworn to defend the nation, even at the cost of their lives, making them the highest body for the country. Therefore, every member of the Tatmadaw must perform their duties with honor and loyalty to the nation and the Tatmadaw. Additionally, as members of the state service, they must carry out their duties impartially, free from political party affiliations, and engage only in matters concerning the state’s affairs and national interests. They perform their duties for the country’s development in accordance with the Constitution.
Training must be prioritized
For those serving in the Air Force, where duties are per formed at the risk of life, there is no room for mistakes. There fore, to ensure continuous improvement in individual capabilities, they must engage in regular and ongoing training. All routine tasks must be carried out correctly and precisely, employing the methods of check, recheck, and countercheck.
If routine tasks are performed accurately, each individual’s capabilities will be fully developed, allowing them to success fully carry out their duties. Only with complete and thorough training will individuals have confidence in themselves and their equipment, enabling them to achieve their mission objectives successfully. Therefore, if training is prioritized, the unit will become one that can excel in its duties and effectively carry out the national defence responsibilities.
Welfare and high morale
In terms of welfare, Tatmadaw is providing as much as it can, and the governing levels also need to provide welfare activities for their troops. It is necessary to hold sports events and entertainments to ensure their health and fitness and to work as a team, and to carry out lectures and discussions in order to gain knowledge and good perception. It is also needed to help solve the social difficulties and the crisis of individual soldiers and their family members as much as they can. If the spirit and perceptions of individual soldiers are good, the skills of the army will be high. If all the troops in the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) are fully competent and cooperate with each other, the defence power of the Tatmadaw will also improve, said the Senior General.
After the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services and the members warmly greeted and encouraged the officers and other ranks from the headquarters of the Hmawby Air Force Base, the female officer cadet trainees from the Defence Services (Army) Officer Training School (Hmawby) and female trainees from the infantry platoon commander training.
After that, the Commander in-Chief of the Defence Services and members had lunch together with the female officer cadet trainees from the Defence Services (Army) Officer Training School (Hmawby) and female trainees from the infantry pla-toon commander training, and warmly greeted and encouraged the trainees.
When the Commander-in Chief of the Defence Services and members arrived at the Defence Services (Army) Officer Training School (Hmawby), the school principal presented and explained about the status of opening and training female officer cadet courses that will strengthen the role of female military personnel in the Tatmadaw, and the status of opening and ability to carry out training duties by platoon commander training for female officers. Regarding the briefings, the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services ordered that the training should be fully mastered in the subjects and other training related matters.
Additionally, the Commander in-Chief of the Defence Services, along with other members, conducted an inspection of the training schools, battalions, and troops at the Hmawby station using vehicles.
